Standing on ancient ice. 🧊🏔️

The Athabasca Glacier flows from the massive Columbia Icefield, one of the largest accumulations of ice south of the Arctic Circle in Canada. Surrounded by the Canadian Rockies, it’s a landscape carved by ice, time, and forces almost impossible to comprehend.

A pretty incredible reminder of just how small we are. 🇨🇦

The Mud Volcano area, located along the Grand Loop Road between Canyon Village and Yellowstone Lake, is one of the park’s most dramatic geothermal landscapes—filled with bubbling mud pots, steaming vents, and the unmistakable sounds and smells of the earth at work beneath your feet.

But in the morning, it becomes something entirely different.

As steam rises from the thermal features and mixes with the cool morning fog, the landscape seems to disappear and reappear through the mist. Trees become silhouettes, boardwalks fade into the haze, and for a few moments it feels less like Yellowstone and more like another world.

Dreamy. Mysterious. Almost prehistoric.

Just another reminder that Yellowstone isn’t simply a place you visit—it’s a landscape that feels alive.
