You’re not supposed to be the hardest-working employee in your agency.

Yet that’s exactly where most founders end up.

They build a successful business...

Then become trapped inside it.

Every decision runs through them.

Every client needs them.

Every problem lands on their desk.

Operator to Owner Evolution is the roadmap for making the shift from operator to owner so your agency can scale without depending on you.

If you’re ready to stop being the bottleneck and start building real leverage:

Your agency doesn’t need more hustle.
It needs less dependence on you.

Too many agency owners build successful businesses only to find themselves trapped inside them.

Every decision runs through them.
Every client needs them.
Every problem lands on their desk.

That’s not ownership.

That’s employment with extra stress.

Operator to Owner Evolution is Jason Swenk’s roadmap for agency owners who want to stop being the bottleneck and start building a business that can scale, grow, and eventually thrive without them.

Inside you’ll learn:

• How to transition from operator to true owner
• Why founder dependency kills growth
• How to build leadership that doesn’t need constant oversight
• What it takes to create a scalable and sellable agency
• How to reclaim your time without sacrificing growth

The agency owners who win the next decade won’t be the busiest.

They’ll be the ones who build leverage.

My former boss applied for a job at my agency... and it changed how I hire forever.

I stopped hiring the most qualified people.

Early on, I hired for skills because I was trying to survive.

But as the agency grew, I realized something:

Skills can be taught.

Character can't.

Today, I use a simple hiring test:

"Could I survive an 8-hour road trip with this person?"

Would I trust them?
Would I enjoy being around them?
Would they make the trip better or worse?

Because culture isn't built in meetings.

It's built through thousands of daily interactions.

The biggest hiring mistakes I've made weren't hiring people with the wrong skills.

They were hiring people who were the wrong fit.

Skills build businesses.

Relationships build great companies.

If you're trying to build an agency that scales without depending on you, check out my book Operator to Owner Evolution. See bio page or search Jason Swenk on Amazon.

Most agency founders think their next breakthrough will come from a better strategy.

In reality, growth usually stalls because the founder’s role stops evolving.

As your agency grows, the problems change:

→ More revenue creates more complexity.
→ More clients create more decisions.
→ More team members create more leadership demands.

The agency grew. The founder didn’t.

That’s why Jason’s new book isn’t about agency tactics.

It’s about the founder evolution required to build an agency that can scale without becoming dependent on you.

If you’re still the top closer, the final decision-maker, and the person everyone comes to with problems, this book is for you.

Because every revenue milestone requires a founder promotion.

📖 Grab your copy today and start building an agency that can outgrow its founder—so you can outgrow your role.

🎙️ NEW PODCAST DROP.

Jason speaks with Park Howell, the host of *The Business of Story* podcast.

If your agency messaging sounds like everyone else's...

That's because you're probably making yourself the hero of the story.

And that's exactly why prospects tune out.

In this episode, I sit down with Park Howell, founder of Park&Co, branding expert, storytelling coach, and host of *The Business of Story* podcast, to break down why most agency messaging fails to connect.

The biggest mistake?

Talking about your process, services, and credentials instead of focusing on what your clients actually want.

Park shares a powerful framework called:

And → But → Therefore

A simple storytelling tool that helps agencies clarify their positioning, create stronger proposals, and connect with prospects on a much deeper level.

We also dive into:

• Why your client should be the hero and your agency should be the guide
• How Hollywood storytelling principles can help you win more business
• The three forces of trust every story needs to create
• Why emotional outcomes outperform tactical messaging
• How to make prospects feel understood before you pitch a solution

One of the biggest takeaways?

The agencies that win aren't the ones with the best pitch.

They're the ones that understand their clients' struggles better than anyone else.

🎙️ NEW PODCAST DROP

What if growing your agency to 200 employees was actually the wrong move?

In this episode, I sit down with Hope Horner, Co-Founder & CEO of Lemonlight, who built her agency from a bedroom startup into a nearly 200-person company… and then made the deliberate decision to cut the team by more than half.

Why?

Because she learned a lesson most agency owners discover too late:

Headcount is not leverage.

We dive into:

• Why going all-in on one service transformed Lemonlight's growth
• The hidden costs of scaling too fast
• Why more employees can actually create more complexity
• The critical difference between managers and executives
• Why many leadership promotions fail
• How to build a leadership team that operates without founder dependency

One of my favorite takeaways:

The goal isn't to build the biggest team.

It's to build the right team.

If you're trying to scale, hire leaders, or figure out when to specialize versus diversify, this conversation is packed with hard-earned lessons from someone who's lived through every stage of growth.

Epic Friday’s aren’t always about business.

In truth, Epic Friday’s with my boys are more important to me than anything agency related.

Isn’t this why we do what we do? To have freedom to be with our families?

Life isn’t just about deadlines, funnels, and client management.

It is about managing your agency so you can have your own Epic Friday with those you love.

If you want insight on how I manage to have all the freedoms and flexibility for an Epic Friday - every Friday. Check out my new book - see bio page or go to amazing and type in “jason Swenk”

NEW PODCAST DROP 🎙️ Jason sits down with Andy Janaitis Founder of PPC Pitbulls an agency that focuses on paid ads for B2B manufacturers .

Most agency owners try to scale through more communication.

More meetings.
More check-ins.
More SOPs.
More oversight.

But operational maturity does not come from founder intervention.

It comes from systems that reinforce behavior without the founder constantly managing the workflow.

In this episode, Andy Janaitis breaks down how his agency built an AI-powered context engine that transformed static SOPs into living operational infrastructure.

But the real lesson is bigger than AI.

It is about founder evolution.

At a certain stage, agencies stop growing because the founder is still operating inside the system instead of architecting the system.

Inside the episode, we unpack:

• Why most SOP systems fail after implementation
• Shared vs personal operational context
• Why outcomes outperform task-based management
• How AI amplifies briefing quality
• Why operational leverage comes from structured context systems
• How founders reduce dependency bottlenecks as the agency matures

The agency grew.
The founder has to grow with it.
