Today Ms. Harris is smiling from heaven! NCDOT Board of Transportation (with the driving force being Valerie Jordan). They voted unanimously to rename 2.9 miles on Interstate 85 Highway (Exit 220-Flemington Road) in honor of my mentor and one of my greatest supporters, Dr. Andrea L. Harris, You can now see “The Andrea L. Harris Highway” as you pass through Henderson on I85. This was Ms. Harris’ hometown in NC. Excited to see the designation of a section of highway 85 named after Ms. Harris!

She always believed in me. She believed in my dream of starting my business FUSION in 1999 when no one else did cause they believed Hispanics were not a market. She helped me build my business and told me WE will silently prove them wrong. This December, I am celebrating 23 years in business. Her guidance, love and support was heartfelt and like no other. She was the one who told me that it doesn't matter if I am the fly in the cup of milk (the only Hispanic/woman in a room), all that means is that my presence is seen and felt!

Fun Fact: She always said she my daughter WILL go to an HBCU and she was going to see to it that she got into Bennet or A&T. Fast forward, my daughter chose (unknowingly) A&T as her school of choice and was accepted. Guess Ms. Harris always gets her way. If you know, YOU KNOW! I miss and love her.

As you drive down the road and see her name, remember her unwavering dedication and sacrifices which we are still benefiting from. Her legacy and passion for minority business and students lives on!

CAN I JUST SAY WOW! I am so proud to once again have been sworn in and be entrusted with a position, on the Governor’s Advisory Council, to be seated at the table with so many dynamic people, and to be able to represent and have a voice for Hispanic business owners across the state of NC. This is an amazing time to be seated at THIS TABLE!

When I look back and remember being a young girl who grew up in the south Bronx and who dared to dream of entrepreneurship before she could even spell the word and today, I can’t help but to feel proud! Proud to not only have two successful businesses, but to have served consecutively on the council since it’s inception and to have been the Governor’s choice to represent entrepreneurs, HISPANIC ENTREPRENEURS ACROSS THE STATE! I feel so blessed.

Congratulations are in order! Today, my colleagues and I were sworn in at the Department of Administration to serve on the Governor’s Advisory Council.

For those of us that have been serving since the inception of this council, please know that I am proud to once again serve with you on this amazing Council! I am proud and grateful to have a seat at the table and serve this state but most important to me is to serve as a voice for the Hispanic Market Segment.

TODAY IS GIVING TUESDAY! I have faith in you. As my followers, you already know that for decades, I have been a giver and strongly believe in the importance of helping others. Every year I do my part by either choosing an organization, hosting a Zumbathon or supporting fundraisers, an event, a cause, a family, an/or an individual to donate to.

This year, my giving is NEAR AND DEAR TO MY ❤️ because it is FOR MY LITTLE SISTER, my own flesh and blood AND your support will also positively impact a people that have endured so much and in the face of adversity, showed resilience and managed to continue to innovate to overcome despite it all. Supporting her allows us to vicariously give back to PR 🇵🇷, the island of my people and the resting place of my ancestors.

On TODAY, I am asking for you to please read her Go Fund Me as she pours out her heart and consider providing a donation of ANY AMOUNT as my little sister prepares to embark on an endeavor to bring relief to the people of a Puerto Rico who are STILL suffering from the devastation of the Hurricane - 2 years ago. She will be farming, doing construction projects, cooking food for elderly people and delivering it to their homes and so much more.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO FUSIÓN MULTICULTURAL MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS - TODAY WE CELEBRATE 22 SUCCESSFUL YEARS OF BEING IN BUSINESS!

I have had many accomplishments throughout my career as an entrepreneur but there is something special about 🍾 celebrating 22 years in business!

I remember when I had the idea to start this business to help Hispanics in my community have access to Spanish language materials, to provide interpreters, THE BIG ONE ... to get Spanish food in all Food Lion's that represented all our cultures (YES, I DID THAT IF YOU DIDNT KNOW!), to host a conference that would educate on Hispanic culture, norms and nuances but most importantly to highlight successful Hispanic leaders and trailblazers! So many people didn't believe in me, friends and family alike. They doubted me and my ideas or my ability to make this business a great success and many thought I was crazy (except for the late Ms. Andrea Harris - she always believed in me and gave wings to my endeavors). Especially, when they tried to guilt me for leaving a $20 per hour job to become a CEO of my own company ... a company that would be the first of it's kind... the first bilingual marketing and communication company in Durham, NC. I believed in ME so I did it anyway and here we are! BELIEVE IN YOURSELF EVEN WHEN OTHERS DON'T!

I feel very proud of myself today...proud as a 🦚 peacock; but, I'd be remise if I didn't personally thank all the people (by far to many to name) who stood by me through the highs and lows. I have always said my success is not measured by the money in the bank. It's measured by the number of people you've touched and lives you've changed along the way! I like to believe that my ability to celebrate 🍾 22 years today is because throughout my career, and in life, I am and always have been a giver and not a taker. "Ms. Harris once told me, success will come to you when you stop chasing the dollars and make it about your hearts desire which are your people!" - she was right as usual!

Please know I am grateful 🙏 to all of you for your continued support. You all know who you are and for those special individuals like "Pepa" who always gave me an ear and love, the curly red head (inside joke) and my travel buddy who always takes me to the best Thai restaurants ❤ thank you for never leaving my side. Especially my husband, who straddled the fence but always made sure I didn't fall off. Today this is OUR day to celebrate.
