Let's talk about the messages from 'marketing agencies' that you may get in your business page inbox. I see a lot of them as I am often in Meta for my clients.

My initial response is always this - if they are that great at what they do, why are they spamming inboxes? That's just my view because most of my business comes from referrals.

Be wary if you are going to respond and really dig into what they are offering.

A great little article and really highlights the impact of SEO

With SEO a lot of people look at rankings. And ranking number 1 for a keyword really depends on a lot of factors. And it is much harder to control. But in general, if you are spending time and money on SEO you should see your traffic go up. At least your organic traffic, right? […]

Let’s talk AI. Since deciding to go back to my business full-time, I have been thinking about what AI means for us marketers. This is a great blog post on writing a blog post using AI.

I think that AI will have many benefits in marketing for marketers. Yes, we can be afraid of it and that it’s going to take away our work, but I don’t believe that. It has its limitations. Even if it put together a full, ready to use blog post, it isn’t optimized for Google. While we want to write for humans, we really want our content to be found and help with our SERP rankings.

Here's my experience and overall impression of using ChatGPT to write a blog post.

Let's talk scam reviews! I hate these things. Unfortunately, Facebook makes it pretty impossible to remove them. The logic is sound in theory - they don't want you deleting out genuine bad reviews. However, that leaves the door open for the scammers, and most of them I see are around trading.

There are a few things you can do. I tend to reply to mine, stating that it's not a genuine review. On the plus side, most of them give five stars, so they don't affect your star rating. You do want to work on getting new reviews to push them down.

The other thing you can do is switch your reviews off completely. This has pros and cons, but you can push people to review you in other places. In fact, reviews on Google help you, especially in the local snack pack.

Whatever you decide, the takeaway is to put a process in place to get new reviews regularly.

The scammers are working hard. I only have five clients (by choice) and three of my clients received this message. One of them also came from Meta Business Center. The one here says it is from Help Center.

These are SCAMS. If you run a business and get one of these, do not panic and do not click the link. Delete the conversation completely or remove to your spam folder.

Talking of my client list, I am ready to take on more clients next month as my son is off to full time Kindergarten (mixture of happiness and sadness.) So I am here, and ready to fuly dive back into the world of marketing.

What did I say about keeping touch? Oops! The thing is, I am keeping my business small. After my post I had a bunch of old clients reach out and I took them on and didn’t want to grow any bigger.

Now my little is getting ready to head to Kindergarten in the fall I’ll have time for a couple more clients. So here I am.

If you’d like help with your marketing, I’m here and ready to help a few more small businesses.

I haven’t posted for a while so I wanted to say hi 👋

The summer was hectic and one of my clients took up a lot of the time I did have to work while trying to fulfill my other, super important job of being a Mom.

It’s tough juggling both sometimes, especially here in the USA where the summer break starts in May and ends in September! So work on my own business usually is the first thing to go.

My contract with the large client is coming to an end this week and my son is back in school so I am excited and ready for the rest of 2022! From next week I’ll have time to focus on what I REALLY want to do more of which is SEO and content marketing, as well as helping small business owners run their own marketing effectively.

Look out for more posts and tips for small business owners.

Always believe in you and what you know you can deliver.

Only work with clients that also believe in you. That way you work together to achieve and not spend time trying to justify why you are doing what you do.

Love this client and I’m honoured to work with them. I personally use them and can say hand on heart that they are awesome at what they do.

Getting leads is great but it's what you do next that also counts. In fact, to sidetrack a little, not all leads are created equal so getting qualified leads is a huge part of the lead process.

Whether you’re a small company or a larger company, your customers appreciate personalization, even when automated. It was my birthday on Monday and I got a few emails from companies I have bought from. It’s a nice touch. I live in Target (well, it feels that way) so 5% off my next purchase was nice to receive. A spa that I have been to a few times - Elements SpaInc - also sent me a 15% voucher. Sugars Bridge Farm Alpaca Tours, Yoga, & Retreats is a wonderful local business and reminded me that I have to get a date booked in again soon.

Such a simple way to remind your customers you exist but also show that you care. Perhaps a strategy worth considering for your business?

I like to highlight good and bad examples of marketing so that you can learn from them. Today's example is a company that I used to do the marketing for (screenshot below.) It just so happens that they came into my newsfeed, and it's an excellent example of a non-marketing person now doing the marketing.

If you're doing the marketing for your own company, one of the fundamentals (aside from getting the messaging right) is checking grammar and spelling! There are so many great tools out there to help with both. I love Grammarly for this very reason.

Bad spelling leads to a poor impression, especially when spelling mistakes happen early on in the post and happen more than once. Don't turn off potential customers with something that is easy to check and fix.
