Transitioning From USMC SgtMaj Glembin To “Farmer Tom”
A few years ago, Sgt. Major Tom Glembin retired from a 34-year USMC career. The intense lifestyle of a special ops Marine typically warrants a difficult transition into civilian life. Tom was looking for serenity; something where he could build his dream by hand and feed his passion for serving others. He started by planting a small garden for his wife, Tracey, in their backyard. The following year, he expanded to the nearly two-acre farm on the property next door. He continued to enlarge the garden until it covered a majority of the property.
Soon, Tom grew enough vegetables to open a small produce stand. He began marketing his harvest. The neighbors loved it! Fueled by excitement, Tom now wanted to grow enough to feed the whole community with what he called, “The medicines of the earth.
Today, the Glembins continue to farm and run their produce stand. And, they plan to keep on doing that as long as the good earth continues to share her rich treasures.
