Christ didn’t JUST die for you.
He died AS you - Selah!
Happy Resurrection Sunday
On this blessed Resurrection Sunday, we gather in AWE and gratitude to remember the supreme sacrifice of Christ and celebrate His victory over death.
As we reflect on the miracle of the resurrection, we’re reminded of the profound truth encapsulated in Matthew 16:24-25, “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.”
This Resurrection Sunday, let’s delve into the essence of what it means to TRULY FOLLOW Christ, inspired by the life He lived and the death He died - not just FOR us, but AS us.
“He didn’t just DIE for you. He died AS you.”
This profound statement finds its foundation in 2 Corinthians 5:21,
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
Christ’s sacrifice on the cross was more than a display of unparalleled love; it was the embodiment of a divine exchange.
He took upon Himself our sins, our trespasses, our debts, our transgressions, our faults, our failures, and our INIQUITIES, and in return, HE offered us His righteousness. WOW!!!
The implications of this truth are staggering
- in His death, our old selves were crucified with Him, and in His resurrection, we are called to a new life - in Him.
To FOLLOW Christ means to embrace this new identity He has given us, which DEMANDS two crucial steps:
1. Self-Denial:
Denying ourselves means letting go of our own desires, plans, and will to fully embrace God’s purpose for our lives. It’s acknowledging that our true identity and worth are found not in the things of this world but in Christ alone.
2. Taking Up Our Cross:
This signifies a willingness to endure hardship, persecution, and suffering for the sake of Christ. It’s a daily commitment to follow Him, even when the path leads through valleys of shadow and pain.
As we celebrate the resurrection of Christ, let us also remember the path He has laid out for us.
The resurrection is not just a historical event to be remembered; it’s a transformative reality that should shape our lives.
Just as Christ rose from the dead, we too are called to rise above our selfish desires, our fears, and our comfort, to live a life that reflects His love, sacrifice, and victory.
This Resurrection Sunday, let us recommit ourselves to truly following Christ - by denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and living in the fullness of the life He has won for us. For if Christ had not risen, we would still be in our sins, trapped in despair and hopelessness. But because He lives, we can face tomorrow with hope, courage, and the assurance of His everlasting love.
As we step forward into this new life, may we always remember the price paid for our freedom FROM SIN, DEATH and ETERNAL DAMNATION, and the love that was poured out for us on the cross.
Let us live every day in the light of His resurrection, embodying the hope and transformation it brings.
May this message INSPIRE and CONVICT us to live a life worthy of His sacrifice, following Him faithfully through self-denial and the daily taking up of our cross. Taking up our cross puts STEEL in our backbone.
