Big congratulations to our Design Director, Dan Nesseth, on crushing the 31‑mile Birkie cross‑country skiing race! Dan fully embodied the Pioneer Spirit and our Chasing Perfection ethos—pushing limits, embracing the grind, and earning a personal best along the way. We couldn’t be more proud.
Read Dan’s reflections on the experience below! 👇
"The American Birkebeiner is more than just a weekend ski race; it’s a tribute to the countless off-season training hours, solo night sessions lit only by a headlamp, and obsessive ski wax combinations. People use the moniker “lifestyle” race, and in this circumstance, it seems appropriate. Skiers are truly made off-snow, so the inside joke of ”it’s good Birkie training” tends to justify impromptu and sometimes unorthodox training ideas. Want to run across the Grand Canyon and back? It would be good Birkie training. Let’s go rollerskiing without brakes and do hill repeats? It’s good Birkie training. In many ways, Birkie is a gateway to a healthier, active lifestyle and certainly offers a sneak peek into Nordic culture and community. Nine years of racing and I still feel the excited “Birkie Fever”, not because it’s the literal definition of type two fun, but what it represents to those who invest the time and ski to live."
