It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Elvira Escajeda, an inspiring, doggedly independent, determined woman and the subject of our 2006 short film, Vila. She passed away yesterday, just two days after turning 102. Elvira made a difference in so many people’s lives and will be remembered for her courageous involvement in the Chamizal Treaty settlement. She was a joy to know.

We are happy to announce that our artwork has finally been installed at the Riverside Park Brio Station at 7600 Alameda Avenue at Vocational Drive and to be a part of the Alameda/Brio art project.

The iconography of Alameda Avenue is a rich, colorful, quirky, amalgam of style, taste, and ex*****on that presents the viewer with a visual parade of the cultural fiber that makes up this stretch of old Texas Highway 20. Once, this road greeted motoring visitors from the east and west and introduced them to our border community.

Some vestiges of the Alameda Avenue’s heyday still survive. Bright colors, rich textures, and a uniquely Alameda Avenue sense of style and design abound this stretch of roadway. Our intention was to highlight these familiar elements that have for many years been the essence of Alameda Avenue, but now, maybe getting lost amidst mounting visual competition. Our panels will be reminders of the vibrancy of this neighborhood as it is now and as it once was.
Sadly, some of the elements in our art are no longer there.

. Back in 1979 we applied for an SBA loan to buy video equipment. An evaluation was done on our company, Vantage Point, and we were rejected due to "severe limitations on the future of our business" because "the major concerns of both Arturo and Vallarie are to provide a quality product at a fair price in order to maintain a satisfied customer, while at the same time maintaining a high standard of art in their work." After 41 years in business, we are happy to have proved them wrong!

We'd like to congratulate Elivira Escajeda, the subject of our documentary "Vila" After seeing the documentary that was recently screened as part of the Plaza Classic Film Festival, some viewers nominated Elvira for the Hispanos Triunfadores awards. She has been selected to receive an award on September 15, at a luncheon held at the Wyndham Hotel. She is shown here being interviewed today in our studio by Abel Rodriguez, of Channel 26, for a segment that will be shown at the award presentation. A remarkable woman who deserves this recognition!

Join us to view the "Mexican Wrestler" music video, a recent project we had fun working on. This was a collaboration between musicians: Velia, Maus, Jorge, Arturo and crew Vallarie, Federico and Andrew. The song, by Jill Sobule, was given a spicy El Paso-Latin flavor.

It will be shown at The Good, the Bad and the Indie Film Festival this Thursday kicking off the Plaza Classic Film Festival. Great news! Our documentary "Vila" will be shown as part of the Plaza Classic Film Festival. It will be screened at the El Paso Museum of Art as part of the Local Flavor: Long Shorts Program on August 6th at 2:30 pm.
It was our good fortune to meet and tell the story of Elvira Escajeda, a strong willed, independent woman who's life collided with the powers that be in the federal government.
This remarkable young lady stood up to law makers at a time when such things were just not done, especially by a woman!
Elvira is planning on being there if you would like to meet her.
