The Elizabethton Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on Church Street near its intersection with S. Lynn Avenue today, Sept. 10, 2026 at approximately 1 p.m.

A juvenile male was walking on foot when he was allegedly shot by an occupant of a moving vehicle. After the shooting, the victim was alert and walking and did not appear to have life-threatening injuries when he was transported by EMS to a local hospital.

Initial reports indicate the juvenile male was also armed at the time of the shooting and fired back at the moving vehicle.

At this time, officers believe the shooting was an isolated incident involving a vehicle occupant who was targeting the juvenile male. The occupant has not yet been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.

Officers do not believe this incident presents an ongoing threat to the community and will release more details as the investigation unfolds.
