I get the privilege and opportunity to meet amazing people from all over North America and beyond. The best part is hearing everyone’s stories—not just about their tractors, but about the people behind them. Today I am at Central Kentucky Antique Machinery Association.

Sometimes, while making a sign, I make a mistake. That’s exactly what happened today, and I have to share.

The sign was supposed to be yellow with green lettering. I misread the order and made it green with yellow lettering instead. When I realized my mistake, I made another one with the correct colors. I texted the customer, and the young man stopped by to pick it up. Rather than throwing the first one away, I gave it to him too.

A little while later, his grandmother came by and gently let me know that I had also misspelled her late husband’s last name—this young man’s grandfather.

As we talked, I had the privilege of hearing some incredible stories about Mr. Mike Feeback. He passed away just two months ago, so the loss is still very fresh for their family. We laughed, we shared memories, and I learned about a man who clearly meant so much to the people who loved him.

After our conversation, I went back and made the sign again with the correct spelling. This time, I made two of them, because they needed them.

Sometimes we don’t understand why things happen the way they do. But today, I’m convinced my mistakes weren’t just mistakes. If I had gotten everything right the first time, I may never have had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Feeback, meet her grandson Dustin, or hear the wonderful stories about Mike and what these old tractors meant to him and his family.

Mr. Mike Feeback, you built more than a collection of old equipment—you built a legacy. You raised a family that honors your memory with love, pride, and kindness. I could tell today that you did well.

Thank you, Feeback family, for sharing a little piece of Mike with me. Moments like these are a reminder that this business has never been just about making signs. It’s about preserving stories, honoring memories, and celebrating the people behind the tractors.
