A quick reminder from your friendly neighborhood screen printer…

The quality of your artwork matters.

Can we print a logo from a screenshot? Sometimes.

Should we? That’s a different conversation.

Every week we get artwork that’s been screenshotted, cropped, emailed, downloaded, reposted, saved to a desktop, and somehow survived all that. By the time it gets to us, it looks like it went twelve rounds with a belt sander.

When that happens, we usually have to rebuild it so it actually prints clean. That’s where art fees come from.

It’s not a punishment. It’s just the time it takes to turn a fuzzy mess into something that won’t look like a fuzzy mess on a shirt.

Good artwork helps us keep costs down, hit deadlines, and makes the whole process easier for everyone involved.

So if you’ve got the original logo file hiding somewhere in an old email, now’s its time to shine.

Your shirts will look better.

Your order will move faster.

And our artists can spend less time playing on the computer and more time printing!

Foam trucker hats first hit the scene in the 1960s and ’70s as promotional giveaways from farms, feed companies, and trucking brands. Cheap to make, lightweight, and built for long days in the sun, they became a staple of blue-collar America.

By the early 2000s, trucker hats exploded into mainstream fashion, showing up everywhere from skate culture to celebrity wardrobes. Then came another wave. As pop-punk, emo, and Y2K style made a comeback, foam truckers found their way back onto stages, in merch lines, and into everyday streetwear. Bands, breweries, brands, and artists embraced the bold colors and oversized graphics that make these hats impossible to ignore.

Today, we’re printing them the old-school way, screen printed, loud, and built to stand out.

What’s old is new again.

If you’ve ever stopped by the shop, you’ve probably seen Eric getting after it.

He’s stacking shirts, checking in orders, pulling online orders, sweeping floors, and doing whatever needs to be done. No complaints. No excuses. Just shows up and works.

Eric is a big part of our crew and we’re lucky to have him. He takes pride in what he does, keeps us on our toes, and reminds us that a good attitude goes a long way.

For the first time since 1961, Elkhorn Baseball brought home a conference championship. We are incredibly proud of this team, their coaches, and everything they accomplished this year.

The future is bright, and Elkhorn baseball is here to stay.

Halfway around the world, 60 students in Wuhan, China are learning the same lesson every good printer learns sooner or later:

There are no shortcuts to the craft.

Our lead press operator, .romer , is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Hubei University of Technology, teaching a Relief Block Printmaking course and passing along the kind of knowledge that only comes from years spent at the bench and behind the press.

Whether it’s relief printing, screen printing, or any other printmaking discipline, the foundation stays the same.

You learn the process.
You trust the process.
You put in the work.

Stretching screens. Coating emulsion. Burning images. Carving blocks. Pulling prints. Making mistakes. Starting over. Getting better.

The tools might change. The language might change. The country might change.

But craftsmanship doesn’t.

In a world chasing faster, cheaper, and easier, it’s good to see the next generation learning a trade that’s still built with skill, patience, and hard work.

From Wisconsin to Wuhan, the craft lives on.

School spirit doesn’t have to look the same as it did 20 years ago.

When I started Hansen Screen Printing, I wasn’t trying to build the biggest print shop around.

I wanted to build a business that could serve local schools, businesses, teams, nonprofits, and families while creating opportunities right here in our community.

Over the last 7 years, we’ve been fortunate to grow alongside the people and organizations we serve. What started as a passion for creating quality products has evolved into something much bigger, a company built on relationships, trust, and community involvement.

We’ve had the privilege of helping local businesses build their brands, supporting countless fundraisers and community events, outfitting sports teams, and giving back whenever we can.

And we’re just getting started.

As we continue to grow, we’re excited about what’s ahead. One of our goals is to create a true retail environment where customers can stop in, explore products, discover local spirit wear, and experience everything we has to offer in person.

But we’re not looking to create just another spirit wear store.

We’re looking to build something different.

We want to work directly with local students, artists, and creative minds to design and produce their own vision of school spirit wear, and other items not associated with spirit wear. The next generation has a fresh perspective on style, fashion, and self-expression, and we believe those ideas deserve a place on the shelf.

Purple and gold aren’t going anywhere. They’re part of our this community, and they always will be.

But let’s be honest, you can only have so many purple and gold shirts in your closet before things start to feel repetitive and over done. Or on a larger scale, blue and yellow, black and orange, and all of the other local schools in the surrounding area that we are thankful for the opportunity to work for.

School pride can be expressed in other ways. We want to create apparel that students are excited to wear, not just on game day, but every day. Designs that blend tradition with modern fashion, allowing students to showcase both their school pride and their individual style.

By involving students in the creative process, we’re hoping to create something bigger than apparel. We want to provide opportunities for young artists, showcase local talent, and build a spirit wear program that’s truly driven by the community itself.

We’re not trying to replace tradition, we’re giving the next generation an opportunity to add to it.

We’re investing in our future because we believe in this community and the people who support us.
