Cheers to TechTonic Justice for this awesome artist opportunity! Thank you for your evidence-based messaging and hard work protecting the good people of Arkansas.
We are seeking an Arkansas-based artist, illustrator, or graphic designer to develop a distinctive visual identity for our Issue Brief, “AI Injustice in Arkansas.”
The state of Arkansas plans to use an AI system to administer key parts of the State’s Medicaid and SNAP programs that support the state’s most vulnerable communities. If implemented, the state’s experimentation with AI could place approximately hundreds of thousands of children and adults at-risk of losing access to basic human needs.
“AI Injustice in Arkansas” uncovers and examines how AI and automated decision making and surveillance systems affect how and if people access basic human needs, including healthcare, food assistance, and education. We want the visual identity of this work to highlight this.
What we provide: This is a paid artist position, where they will receive a $1,250 stipend.
What you bring:
🪨 Arkansas identity - The work should feel rooted in Arkansas's people, communities, history, and landscape.
🪨 Community Resistance - Arkansas has a deep history of organizing, advocating, and pushing accountability. The work can reflect that.
🪨 Accessibility - The work should invite people into the conversation.
Our timeline is tight, with an application deadline of Friday, August 28th, anticipated start date of September 14th and an artwork deadline of early October.
