Long Post Alert -
As many of you know, we've been working on raising $10,000 to fund an endowed scholarship at Cecil College for Fine Art Students. We have been at this for approximately 4 years and can see the end in sight - we only need $772 to completely fund the scholarship and then students can begin to receive the award! As part of their applications, the fine art students must submit a portfolio, which is something they will often need to do when they are out in the world after they have earned their degree.
Most of the funds have been raised through our "Artful Tastings" which we held twice a year. John Murray from State Line Liquors would curate and donate the wine when they were wine tastings. Elk River Brewing Company and Valhalla Brewing Co donated beer when we had the beer tastings. A couple of the tastings featured local wine donated from Chateau Bu-De Winery, Turkey Point Winery, Dove Valley Vineyard and Broken Spoke Winery. Lockbriar & Daughter Ice Cream donated ice cream and local restaurants often donated food for the tasting. It was a wonderful community event supported by many of you.
Had we been able to host our Tastings this year, we definitely would have reached our goal. Of course, that has not happened. To that end, we are coming to you to see if you would help us reach our goal by the end of 2020. If even 77 people donated just $10 each - we would be there! We see this as our legacy, as our community's legacy to contribute to the fine arts in a lasting way. Thank you for your help if you can this go round, and thank you so much if you've helped in the past.
