Stay weather aware just in case! Keep in mind the rivers and creeks will continue to rise even after the rain ends due to runoff. There is a lot of standing water on roadways, and weak or damaged culverts could be very dangerous. Drive with extra caution and watch the EMA page for any updates!

Continued periods of moderate to heavy rainfall are expected across portions of north Georgia. Instances of flash flooding and flooding of smaller creeks and streams will remain a concern through the afternoon. A Flood Watch remains in effect through 8 PM this evening. A few storms this morning and early afternoon could become severe, capable of producing damaging wind gusts. A brief, isolated tornado also cannot be ruled out.

This is a good time to download the Gilmer County Emergency Management app for your phone or tablet. When downloaded, tap on the "Get Started" button, then search for "Gilmer County Emergency Management" and follow the instructions from there.
