Trail Ridge Printing was established in 2012 as a partnership between Tim Buck and Ron Shumate, two long-time Colorado residents with a shared passion for high-quality screen printed apparel and accessories. Ron launched Earthprints, his own screen-printing shop, in 1982, and earned a reputation for dependable service and technical expertise. Tim joined Ron to form Trail Ridge Printing Company on

the basis of over 45 years of combined experience in the screen printing industry, and the two continued to grow the company's reputation for outstanding quality and reliable turnaround. Estes Park residents Elia and Dena King purchased the company in 2017 in an endeavor to pursue creative work that would keep them closer to their kids and allow them to put down deeper roots in their community. Elia and Dena became familiar with Trail Ridge Printing after working closely with Tim and Ron on a product line for The Grey House, a mountain boutique that Dena co-owns with her sister. Elia and Dena are excited to carry on the legacy of Trail Ridge Printing, working closely with clients to tell a better story, creating or developing any print job from concept to finished product.

Our Story

We love a good adventure. That’s why in September 2017 we took a leap and became the proud owners of Trail Ridge Printing.

Since relocating to Colorado in 2013, we often found ourselves talking about how we wished we had more opportunities to be involved with the place where we live — to be better neighbors and to teach our kids what it means to be contributing members of a community. We were also anxious for an opportunity to bring our combined experience in fundraising, marketing, retail and design into a business where we could help people to write a better story for their own businesses and families. As it turns out, a screen printed t-shirt is a great vehicle for accomplishing all of those goals. So when given with the chance to chart a new course for Trail Ridge Printing, we recognized right away that it was the right next step for our family.

Because we were already part-owners in a clothing boutique in our home town of Estes Park, we had a firsthand understanding of the realities facing many of our neighbors in local small business, and we saw Trail Ridge Printing as a vehicle to help meet some of those needs. We feel incredibly fortunate for the mentorship of former owners Tim Buck and Ron Shumate, who brought over 50 years of combined experience to the business before forming their own partnership in 2012. We worked closely with Tim and Ron on a private line of shirts for The Grey House, and their influence has been a tremendous resource as we have taken on full ownership of Trail Ridge Printing, including all production and design services.

We run our two-person operation with a commitment to high-quality environmentally-friendly production practices wherever possible. This means offering water-based options in addition to traditional plastisol inks, using “green” cleaning chemicals, and printing by hand to reduce our carbon footprint, giving each garment the attention to detail that can only come as a result of manual screen printing.
