Many updates have to do with fixes and or improvements, so they are definately worth doing as soon as you can.

Things we do on Wednesday. Every week I get a report of "WordPress Vulnerability" plugins and themes. This week there are 181 vulnerabilities, 63 have no patch to fix them yet.

All need to be updated as soon as possible. While "auto-update" is available, and it usually works well, it can break things too. Also, this week there are 181 vulnerabilities, and 63 have no patch to fix them yet.

So, I check all the sites that I host and/or maintain to make sure it is updated as soon as possible, and working properly.

Get those updates handled on your websites! Check to make sure everything is looking good and working correctly. If not, talk to your web pro to get it taken care of.

If you have noticed strangeness with websites that you normally visit this week, there really is a big reason this time. Many times things go wonky on websites and apps, and no specific cause is given, but this week, that is not the case.

There was a new version of WordPress, which is the platform that 810 million websites(43%) are built on. WordPress 6.3 aka "Lionel" was released on August 8th.

That many sites needing an update all basically at the same time gets a little tricky. Then all of the apps and plugins that are associated with WordPress need to be updated and verified.

Make sure your browser is updated
Disable autofill passwords for websites that require CAPTCHAs.
Manually enter the password
Use a password manager, not Autofill.
Clear the cache on your browser
Use your browser in Incognito, or Private mode
Use a different browser
Update your password to a strong or secure password
