After receiving his studio art degree at HSU, Humboldt County native Noah Samson founded VC with a Mac computer and one large format printer in a spare bedroom at his house. Since then, Visual Concepts has grown to a 7 person, 1 dog crew occupying a 5,000+ foot building in the historic Creamery District of Arcata, CA. Noah grew up racing motocross with his family, traveling throughout California,

Oregon and Washington to compete in one of the world’s toughest, most grueling and dangerous sports. The intensity of racing lives every day in the work that comes out of VC. Noah’s competitive nature has allowed him and his crew to excel in all areas and services they provide. What was once a dream to make a living doing art & design has become a resource for business owners, start ups, entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, movers and shakers in Humboldt County and beyond. We exceed our clients expectations with attention to detail, and a need to infuse quality art, design, and craftsmanship into everything we touch.

Really cool to walk into last night and find this packaging I designed for sitting proudly on the shelf.
Micro greens are an amazing thing to eat, and here at VC we are huge champions of local agriculture. If we’re ever going to start to fix the sad state of health in this country, this is a great start!

Stoked on how this one came out. Alba is the Gaelic name for Scotland, so we wanted to tie some Scottish plaid pattern into a capital letter A. Of course plaid can be intricate and busy, so the goal became to boil it down to its most basic essence. Once the brand mark was done the pattern in the A worked very well to extrapolate out and make the pattern used on the van wrap, business cards, and elsewhere.

Screen printing is rad. It’s an ancient art form, originally practiced in China around the year 960AD. Although we implement some cool new tech to help with the process, the general area of how it works remains the same.
Screen printing and screen print shops have always been tied closely to the music scene. Most screen printers get their start printing the shirts for their band. Our shop is no different.

The original owner of our equipment, Tad, first learned to print for his band. These days our dude Kris heads up our screen print shop. Kris is an accomplished musician and drummer who toured nationally before spending many years as a tattoo artist, and now a screen printer.
This design was hand drawn by our man Kris. A man of many talents and interests! When you print with us, you support local rad people like Kris. We compete with online pricing, our quality is second to none, and we’re here, in your community trying to make things better, day by day.

VC is so proud to support the efforts of building our outdoors and mountain bike community one trail at a time. We’ve developed, designed, and built signage for all of their trail systems from Hatchery Ridge in Blue Lake, McCay in Eureka, Lacks Creek up 299, and now Lindsay Creek in McKinleyville.

Stoked on how this signage for Jitter Bean Coffee’s Broadway location turned out. We’ve been working together for a few years now. We’ve wrapped their van, printed a bunch of custom shirts, and now moving onto revamping signage at many of their locations around Humboldt. They’re great people doing great things here in our hometown.

This one is a good reminder to myself and all my clients - your logo does not have to be literal! Real estate logos don’t need to be a house. A salon logo doesn’t need scissors. Be unique, be recognizable. Own your space.

Great day zipping down to beautiful Southern Humboldt to do this install on a sunny day. We live in an amazing place. Gotta make sure to appreciate that.
