🚨 Rental scam alert! — this is important 🚨

I had something happen today that I feel like I need to share, because I don’t want anyone getting taken advantage of.

There are a LOT of rental scams going around right now, and they’re getting harder to spot.

Someone reached out to me today after almost sending money to a scammer.

She had been talking with someone on Facebook about a property, and from her perspective, everything looked legit. The photos were real, the answers sounded right, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary at first.

But the person she was messaging started pushing hard for a deposit and fees to be sent right away through an app like Cash App. There was pressure, urgency, and that “you need to act now or you’ll lose it” feeling.

Thankfully, she trusted her gut and decided to double-check before sending anything—and that’s when she contacted me.

The property they were using? One of my listings:

📍 606 South 10th Street in Olivia

Just to be clear:
👉 That home is FOR SALE only
👉 It is NOT available for rent
👉 Any rental listing for it is 100% a scam

And unfortunately, this isn’t just a one-time thing. I’ve been seeing more and more of this lately with different properties.

Please be careful:
• Don’t send money to someone you’ve only talked to online
• Be cautious with listings on Facebook or messaging apps
• If someone is rushing you or pressuring you—step back
• Always verify the property and who you’re dealing with (ideally in person)
• You can check with a me or another trusted realtor to see if a property is actually listed for sale—we can at least verify that and help you catch potential red flags.

If something feels off, trust that feeling.
