Red Crown Rot Update: This is what the start of Red Crown Rot, RCR looks like. If you zoom in on the root, you will be able to see rust color spores. Infected fields will typically have compaction type symptoms and shortened plants visible from the road and eventually symptoms similar to Sudden Death Syndrome. This farm has battled RCR for the past few years, located in Shelby County, Indiana. The seed used in this field is AV34Y9E treated with Security RCR. The treatment has been successful to date. At this time last season infected plants would have less than 20 filled pods. This plant has nearly triple the pods and has not aborted pods as similar plants in 2025. Next season we are hoping to once again update the Security RCR treatment with the newest products available. If you suspect RCR is a problem in your fields, I am happy to help.
