Apparently our definition of chic is:

💖 Making Shopify unrecognizable.
💖 Being a little extra, we don't settle for "good enough".
💖 Building brands for their lovers, not their haters.
💖 Seeing clients come back because they’ve outgrown the thing we built the first time.
💖 Being well-branded at every possible opportunity.
💖 And working with a bunch of badass women who GET IT.

We’ve done this 1,500+ times and we’re still not bored.

Because after 1,500+ ecommerce websites, we still believe the best brands aren’t built to please everybody. They’re built to make the right people obsessed.

We just wrapped up this website rebrand for The F.A.D. Boutique and we’re LOVING her new look.

A fresh new vibe, a better shopping experience, and a site that makes it easier for customers to browse, find what they love, and shop.

We loved working on this one and bringing their next era to life!

The F.A.D. Boutique already had the personality — we just gave her an online home to match.

Fun. Colorful. Playful. And unmistakably her.

Business has been so hard lately. So beautiful. But so hard. And it comes in waves, and seasons. We think the hardest times are when we are struggling to bring in enough revenue. And those ARE hard times. Those times suck. But then we meet new hard times, different hard times.

Growth, hiring for roles you've never hired for before, SOPs that you needed a year ago, the kind of decisions that truly feel like the weight of the world because you have clients, customers and employees to consider too. Every move matters. And it's pressure. And sometimes it's confusion: did we make the right call? Are we spending our own time on the right things? Are we doing enough? Are we enough in general?

And the very last thing on our list? Ourselves. And that's not anyone else's fault. And no one is coming to save us on it either. It's up to us. And it's not optional. We let it be optional and we will burn completely out (believe me, I've been there). And then we are no good to anyone or our business.

I guess today was a renewal. A commitment - or maybe a re-commitment. I matter too. I am here to serve, yes! But I am not ONLY here to serve. And I serve best when I am happy, healthy and well. So even though it feels so hard (impossible even) to step away sometimes mentally, even for just a minute, I must.

And you must too, boo. So if you needed any kinda permission. Please do it, girl. I promise you'll be better for it. You do have time. It is part of your life's work too. 🫶🧘‍♀️

And that’s a wrap on The Boutique Summit!

Dallas, you were a dang good time.

We spent the last few days talking Shopify + branding, meeting SO many incredible business owners, answering website questions, handing out cute merch, and putting real faces to brands we’ve been following from behind our screens.

We also got to catch up with some of our past clients, see what they’ve been up to, and watch them absolutely KILLING IT. 🥹💖 Nothing makes us happier than seeing the brands we’ve worked on keep growing long after launch.

Meet the human behind the magic. ✨

Next up is Karla.

Karla is our Senior Project Manager and resident Systems Maven, Operations Extraordinaire, and Tamer of Chaos. She’s been with Hot Mess for more than six years, which basically means she knows the ins, outs, quirks, systems, and moving pieces that keep everything running behind the scenes.

She’s the one making sure the tech actually works, the apps are functioning, the metafields are behaving, and the client journey makes sense from start to finish. Give Karla a complicated system or a little operational chaos and she’s probably already figuring out how to make it work better.

When she’s not keeping Hot Mess running smoothly, you’ll find her playing board games, dancing, thrifting at markets, joining the occasional drumming circle, or hosting social events with her close friends.

If you’ve ever wondered who’s behind so much of the organization, tech, and systems that keep our client experience moving… now you know.

DIY GOT YOU HERE.

She's done her job. We are NOT at all here to hate on DIY. We freaking love the scrappy era. You started something from complete scratch, likely with little knowledge or resources. You poured your heart and soul in to build up a community.

But eventually, doing everything yourself stops being resourceful and starts stealing time from the stuff only YOU should be doing. At some point, your website needs to grow up WITH you.

And this is not just about making it prettier. We’re talking about better strategy, easier shopping, stronger branding, and a Shopify experience that's actually playing at the level you're really at.
