Jan Du Plain began her career on her father’s award-winning weekly newspaper in California followed by a stint at a well-known literary agency in Hollywood, representing authors, screenwriters and actors for motion picture companies. In the late 60’s she worked as the PR Liaison for CBS Cinema Center Films in NYC, in the early 70’s, she served as the first official public relations director of historic Ford’s Theatre, followed by 15 years as the public relations director for WETA TV and Radio, the third largest public broadcasting station in the United States. In 1995, she opened Du Plain Enterprises, Inc, an international PR and special events company that represents a variety of media and cultural organizations. She served on the executive team which launched Cultural Tourism DC’s (Ctdc) inaugural PASSPORT DC, a month city-wide cultural celebration of Washington’s international and diplomatic community and continues in the role of Embassy Liaison today. She recruits the 15 embassies that participate in the Embassy Chef Challenge. The State Department is a strategic partner and PASSPORT DC is now listed as one of the most popular events in the nation’s capital by Events USA. She also currently serves as the Embassy Liaison for the Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center, participating in the 300 international events that are mandated by congress annually.

Sixteen unforgettable days, four incredible stops: Marrakech, Paris, Budapest, and Prague. 🌍✈️

From desert swims, Sufi dancers, camel rides, and dune buggies with Monia Zgarni’s family in Morocco, to the Moulin Rouge with my grandniece Melia in Paris; a dinner cruise on the Danube with my former DC videographer Valer Gergely in Budapest; and Prague, guided in spirit by Indira Gumarova and Dr. Gail Humphries, including a visit with gallery visionary Tomas.

This was my first major vacation in many years, and I came home with wonderful memories—and a serious case of the travel bug! ❤️

Through SL Fashion Design, she creates custom and haute couture pieces designed to celebrate women of every shape, size and age. Her work reflects her passion for craftsmanship, cultural pride and the belief that fashion can give women confidence and a sense of beauty.

Beyond the runway, Sifa Love is committed to empowering women and supporting her community. Her work extends into humanitarian initiatives and platforms dedicated to uplifting women and young people within the African diaspora.

Now, her Congolese heritage and creative vision take center stage in Washington, DC.
