This is one of those client wins that really shows what can happen when the right people are working together toward the same goal.

When we started working with this client, she was already investing in ads and social media, but there was a disconnect between the money going into marketing and what was actually coming back from it. So instead of chasing more views or constantly trying to come up with something new, we got way more intentional about what was actually leading to calls, clients and revenue.

Jen focused on making the paid side convert better, while Emily focused on simplifying the organic strategy and making it easier for someone to go from seeing a post to actually taking the next step.

But one of the biggest differences has been what happens between those two things.

We’re constantly talking about what’s working, what people are responding to, what we’re seeing on our respective sides and what we should try next. Our client doesn’t have to be the person connecting all of those dots or making sure everyone is on the same page. We do that together.

A few months later, she’s spending less on ads, booking significantly more calls and consistently bringing in multiple 5 figures a month.

At the end of the day, there wasn’t one magical ad or viral post that made it happen. It’s been really good people doing really good work, paying attention to what’s actually moving the needle and being willing to adjust as we learn.

This is what marketing can look like when your ads and organic content aren’t operating in two completely different worlds.

I was putting this carousel together and kept thinking about how little people talk about what happens after a post goes live.

We talk a lot about views, likes, reach, and engagement, but what I really care about is what those things lead to.

And one way to detect ROI from a post is looking deeper into analytics like profile visits and link taps! Those metrics tell us that the post/topic is moving people to take action!

Looking through these client results was such a good reminder that content can do a lot of different jobs.

None of these businesses have the same audience or the same goals, so it makes sense that their content performs differently too.

That’s why I don’t believe there’s one perfect content strategy. The best content is the content that gets the result you’re actually looking for.👏🏻

Here are the biggest fixes I recommended 👇

1️⃣ Make it IMMEDIATELY clear what you offer

If someone has to click your link to understand what your platform does, your bio isn’t doing enough.

Tell them exactly what it is + who it’s for.

2️⃣ Lead with the outcome

Instead of “All things events,” focus on what your platform helps people DO.

Think:
“Plan your event without the chaos.”

Clear > clever.

3️⃣ Highlight what makes the platform different

Why should someone use YOUR platform?

Maybe it’s:
• Easy to use
• Everything in one place
• Multiple users can collaborate
• Customized planning tools

Give them the benefit, not just the feature.

4️⃣ Show people what they can plan

Don’t make them guess!

Weddings • Baby Showers • Fundraisers • Parties

Seeing their specific event could be what makes someone think, “Wait I NEED this.”

5️⃣ Add a proof line

Think:
• X+ downloads
• X+ events planned
• X+ users
• X+ 5-star reviews

6️⃣ Finish with a clear CTA

If you have room:
“Start planning your event ↓”

Your bio should answer 3 things FAST:

What is this? Why do I need it? What can I use it for?

And as I made this she is now close to 5X her following like WHAT!!! Sam | Editor for Fiction Authors 📚 you’re a rockstar!

It’s incredible what can happen to an account when you’re consistent, double down, and let the social media compound over time. These results didn’t happen over night, they were built from multiple months of posting, refining strategy, getting clear on offer suite, and doubling down on what’s working!

Thank you Sam for putting your trust in me and allowing me to be a small part of your business’s journey!🫶🏼

One of the most common things I hear when someone gets on a discovery call with me is: “I’ve been following you for SO long.”

Most of my inquiries aren’t from someone who found me yesterday, saw one post, and immediately decided to hire me.

They’ve usually been around for months.

They’ve seen my posts, watched my stories, maybe replied to something or exchanged a few DMs with me. Sometimes they’ve thought about reaching out more than once before they actually do.

The whole time, they’re getting to know me and deciding whether they trust me enough to hand part of their business over to me.

And really, don’t we all buy this way?

Think about the last time you discovered a business and immediately bought from them the first time you saw them.

It happens. But it’s definitely not the norm, especially when you’re investing hundreds or thousands of dollars.

Usually we watch for a while. We come across them again. We get a better feel for who they are and what they know. Then one day the timing is right and we’re ready.

This is also why so many social media managers require a 3-month minimum.

It takes time to build that familiarity and trust. We can’t expect someone to see three weeks of content and suddenly be convinced to buy.

And if you stop showing up because it “isn’t working” yet, you might be disappearing right when someone was starting to trust you.

Don’t quit posting while they’re still deciding. 💗

Here are the biggest fixes I recommended 👇

1️⃣ Add searchable keywords

Consider dropping your last name to make room for keywords people may actually search.

Think: Fargo Photographer, Midwest Photographer, Moody Photographer or whatever best describes your style.

2️⃣ Add line breaks

Your bio should be easy to skim FAST.

Breaking everything into separate lines instantly makes it cleaner and easier to understand.

3️⃣ KEEP your ideal client statement 👏🏼

“Photographer for the bold, quirky & wonderfully weird.”

CHEF’S KISS. No notes. 🤌🏼

It tells me exactly who you’re for AND what makes you different.

4️⃣ Don’t repeat the same message twice

“I create art for those who don’t fit the mold” is great, but it’s similar to the line above.

Use that space to tell people what they can actually hire you for instead.

Weddings • Engagements • Portraits • Headshots

5️⃣ Keep your travel line

Showing the places you’re traveling for shoots is fun AND tells potential clients you’re willing to travel.

6️⃣ Add a proof line

Think:
• X+ shoots completed
• X+ happy clients
• X+ 5-star reviews
• Photographed in X states

7️⃣ Tag your location

If Instagram gives you the option, tag your location instead of using valuable bio characters.

Your bio doesn’t need to appeal to everyone.

It needs the RIGHT person to land on your profile and immediately think:

“Yep. This photographer gets me.”

You can now connect your Instagram account to Google Search Console and see how your Instagram profile, Reels and posts are performing across Google Search, Discover and Google News.

This means you’ll be able to see which posts are appearing in Google results, which ones people are clicking and what they searched before finding your content.

And that search query data could be incredibly helpful for planning your content.

Instead of guessing how people describe their questions or what wording they use, you can see the actual terms leading people to your posts. You can then use those insights to create follow-up content, improve your hooks and captions, or turn a successful topic into a new reel, carousel, email or blog post.

You can also spot older posts that are gaining traction again and compare whether your reels or regular feed posts are bringing in more traffic from Google.

Just keep in mind that Search Console only starts collecting this data after you add your Instagram account. It doesn’t pull historical data from before the connection, so the sooner you connect it, the sooner you can start building that information.

Want the full guide?

Comment GOOGLE and I’ll send you my document explaining exactly how to connect your Instagram account, why it’s worth doing and how to interpret the data once it starts coming in. 👏
