I’m so proud to be an alumna of the University of North Dakota. Thanks to the UND Communication Department for featuring my career! 💚 🖤 🤍 💖 (yes, prairie rose pink is an official school color!)
Meet this week’s Alumni Spotlight, Amy Norstedt from Hallock, MN. She graduated from UND in the spring of 2011 with a Bachelor’s in Communication, focusing on broadcast journalism and public relations. Amy is currently the Public Relations Strategist at Flint Group in Fargo, ND. As part of her role at Flint Group, she serves as the public information officer for the developer of the Fargo-Moorhead Area Diversion channel project.
Amy previously was a senior anchor, producer, and reporter for the WDAY-TV in Fargo.
While at UND, she participated in Studio One for three years, and she served in serval positions including co-host, news anchor, news reporter, feature reporter, executive council, student leader, and stage manager. Amy additionally served as a student marshal at commencement during her junior year. She interned at SimmonsFlint as an account manager and at WDAZ-TV as a reporter. Amy says that her favorite memories at UND have a lot to do with her participation at Studio One. The instructors transformed her life by teaching her the ins and outs of writing, videography, television production, and marketing. Other favorite memories at UND include the opportunity to interview former UND President Robert Kelly, organizing and emceeing the annual communication department banquet, and executing a communication theory experiment on the bystander effect.
As a side note, she stated that if any communication students are looking for a job, Flint Group in Fargo, ND is looking to hire some Communication positions.
