AI is changing the communications industry.
But not by replacing strategy, creativity, or human insight.

The biggest shift happening in PR right now isn’t just faster content. It’s smarter decision-making.

→ Moving from content creation to content direction
→ Moving from reactive messaging to predictive strategy
→ Moving from volume to precision
→ Moving from ex*****on alone to insight-driven communications

AI can generate content in seconds.
What still matters is knowing what to say, when to say it, and why it matters to your audience.

The advantage isn’t simply using AI.
It’s using it intentionally.

At Marx Layne, we believe the future of communications belongs to firms that combine technology with strategy, insight, and human understanding.

A strong showing at the Visit Detroit 2026 Partnership & Marketing Outlook, held on April 29th at The Department at Hudson’s Detroit, where Marx Layne & Company’s Michael Odom and David Stoyka joined partners from across the region.

The discussion reinforced the continued momentum behind Detroit’s tourism and hospitality industry, along with the collaboration and investment helping move the city forward.

There was real value in being part of these conversations and hearing directly what’s shaping Detroit’s growth.

If you only judge decisions by outcomes, you’re not building strategy. You’re reinforcing luck.

That’s the risk of “resulting.”
It creates a false link between what worked and what was actually right

In crisis communications, that mindset is dangerous.
Because outcomes are influenced by timing, noise, and factors outside your control, not just the quality of your decisions.

The teams that handle crises best don’t chase results.
They build processes they can trust, even when outcomes are uncertain.

Because long-term reputation isn’t built on luck. It’s built on consistency.

Most leadership teams don’t fail in a crisis because they lack communication skills.

They fail because they haven’t defined how much risk they’re willing to take.
When a crisis hits, every second matters.

And if your team is debating how transparent to be, how quickly to respond, or how bold to act… you’re already behind.

The first hour sets the tone.

The decisions made in that window can shape perception, trust, and long-term reputation.

The strongest teams aren’t figuring it out in real time.
They’ve already aligned on risk tolerance before anything happens.
If your team hasn’t had that conversation yet, now is the time.

Big moment for our client My Pet’s Vet 🐾

Through strategic media relations and targeted outreach, our team secured a TV segment on Daytime with Kimberly Crawford on KABB-TV FOX 29, where Dr. Doyal (and Moose 🐶) shared essential pet first aid tips every owner should know.

From everyday injuries to unexpected emergencies, this earned media placement delivered expert insight to a broad audience while strengthening brand visibility and trust.

This is what effective public relations looks like. Connecting the right stories to the right platforms and driving real impact for our clients.

Yusef Lateef is a legend of Detroit jazz. Born in Chattanooga in 1920, he moved to Detroit’s Paradise Valley as a child and grew up alongside future greats like Milt Jackson, Paul Chambers, Elvin Jones, and Kenny Burrell. He studied flute and composition at Wayne State University before touring with Dizzy Gillespie’s orchestra in 1949 and later with Cannonball Adderley’s Quintet (1962–1964).

Best known for tenor saxophone and flute, Lateef was also a pioneer in incorporating oboe, bassoon, and non-Western instruments such as bamboo flute, shehnai, shofar, xun, arghul, and koto into jazz. Celebrate Detroit's greats.

Strong missions need strong messaging!

Is your nonprofit stuck in a cycle of hiring, training, and rebuilding communications momentum? Outsourcing could be the strategic advantage that brings consistency, expertise, and long-term growth.

Read how outsourcing communications can help nonprofits protect their voice, strengthen engagement, and stay focused on impact: https://marxlayne.com/blog/nonprofits-outsourcing-communications

Nonprofit organizations are driven by mission, but they’re often challenged by limited resources and frequent staff turnover. Communications roles, in particular, can be hard to fill and even harder to retain.
