Wake up everyday with joy and gratefulness guiding your mind. Work diligently with the purpose of accomplishing more than you imagined you could without watching the clock. Play hard whenever you can find time with the innocence of youth and ignorance of a hate filled world. Love gently with the wholeness of your ability without reservation for those that will not reciprocate. You are absolute. You are worthy of all of your dreams and desires. Pray daily like a beggar. The Lord listens and hears our repentances. Even if you can’t find the words, find the time to sit in thought. Remember that your purpose driven life isn’t meant to obtain worldly riches. It is meant to be spent in service to others. Praise God for your will to be good to others. Our wealth comes when He calls us home. While we wait, make it count! - Dana Long, A Writer’s Block

It's so unsettling to know that the brightest stars cannot see their own light. Shadowed by worldly ideals, they do not know how much of an impact they make in this world. Showering luminescence is simple, changing lives is profound and every bit worthy of recognition. - A Writer’s Block

The greatest architect of all time envisioned His work and made it miraculous by simply speaking it into being... We must never reject the idea of all things being possible with the hand of the Lord to help us along. - A Writer’s Block

Prayers are not requests of God. God knows our hearts' desires. He knew them even before we made our earthly debut. Prayers are an accentuation of our faith and belief that God knows how best to answer us. When we end up in dire situations, we pray. God may not lift us up immediately, but He inherently provides us with a beacon of hope and moves us with realizations of how blessed we already are. It is then when we must pray with a thankful heart for all of His grace. - A Writer’s Block

Having faith isn't just a devotional human mechanism definitive of our attitude during perseverance. It is also a declaration of solidity in our spiritual foundation. -

Pillar

Weighted words of modest solidity
Come from motions of our will
Lifting or burdening the intended
While bending hearts over and still.

Calmed haste is trying and inept
Caving ceilings over who’s there
Draping shoulders before only empty
While boring holes in hope to share.

Binged action of blameless healing
Endured by who covet known vows
Steering vessels through rough seas
While heavy feet land upon the bows.

Hindered regrets move to none
Haunted hearts now beat stiller
Deafening the right of letting go
While yearning to remain a pillar.

It’s been a while. Here is a newer poem written by yours truly.

Severance

How heavy can one’s heart be?
Encased in marled sorrow and pain
Bearing woven strings, n’er loosened
Hindering from movement hereto.

How passionate can hope remain?
Trellises of wishes collapse in vain
Harrowingly admonishing mere reason
Grasping onto fringes of past comforts.

How lone is the prevalence of strife?
Inside our chalice, neither half or whole
Still upwardly our hands do fully clasp
Beseeching the highest of pure pardon.

How the meekest of ones do bellow?
Carrying voices notwithstanding regard
Craving fortuity that is forever naught
Against their honest comparable might.

How squandered has been the time?
Proving superiority was more abreast
Delving closer to familial partition
With impermanence of stout regret

How somber we are eventually derived?
Reckoning with that which cannot return
Burdening expression in increasing grief
When nonce you bent absent in fact.

Memories that unfold daily in our minds can either tug at our heart strings or poison our souls. Thinking back, I can recall the best moments of my life and those that were deafening to my spirit. Mentally we encourage ourselves to focus on those cherished times and try and deflect our jaded history. Emotionally we can't escape the scarring that occurs in life. We carry on using our strife in comparison to present situations and our future. The brain functions with effort to make your heart forget the misery it's known, while the heart ignores the brain's protective intentions. This only proves that our mind is only a pawn in our happiness and grief. Knowing this, we keep hope that our heart is strong enough to endure repetition. Our brain is only a means of reasoning, often deferred because of our beating passion to gain a better outcome no matter how similar the moments are to our previous failures. Let our hearts continue to remain rhythmic at their own will... Our minds are never clear enough to make choices beneficial to our purpose driven lives. - Dana Long

We are all flawed. We are all disabled.

How blessed would we all be to see through unadulterated eyes, speak past lips corrupted by societal standards, hear only positive reckonings, handle all things with love and care without inhibitions, know and feel all things without a fight or flight response... How blessed would we be if we weren't all disabled?

I wish I wasn't etched out of flaws or riddled with ethical and moral decay. All I can do is pray that I'm better each and every passing day. I am a work in progress, but have no excuse for the words I speak that harm others, actions I take that spite others or feelings I have of bitterness without a desire to forgive. Being a good human is the most difficult thing any of us will ever do. It takes continuous practice.

Create in me a pure heart, Lord. The world certainly needs more of them!
