Next month is sexual assault awareness month and the YWCA of Flint is accepting donations of decorated denim to sell in their silent Auction during their annual fundraiser on Denim Day. I volunteered to decorate a piece to donate and gave me her pink denim jacket to use as my canvas! Phase one complete! Now waiting for the bling I ordered to arrive so I can finish this jacket makeover!

I am so pleased with myself about this! I recovered this old stool with some Estonian wool we bought during our last visit. We have decided to decorate our bedroom in an Estonian theme to commemorate Ool’s heritage. We went with purple because of a beautiful day we had in the countryside there when the purple lupine were in bloom in a grove of beech trees. Every time we walk in the room we are reminded on a subconscious level, of a specific point in time that was blessed with love and sunshine. When we bought the wool I had no idea what I would use it for, I was just caught up in the beauty of the hand woven, colorful fabrics that are used to make skirts in traditional Estonian dress, similar in nature to the concept of kilts for the Scots. The colors and patterns of the stripes indicate what part of the country you are from. I love when I subconsciously gather things, somehow knowing on some level that they will all come together, as if they were always meant to be together… this fabric was absolutely meant for this stool, where I sit to do my makeup. An antique chair adorned by a fabric honoring the legacy of the strong Estonian women who wove their wool while weaving stories and traditions and lives together. It was not an easier time. All times are difficult for those that live them. It reminds me to respond to my time humbly, with courage when it’s needed and gratitude for the moments of joy that remind us what is really important in this life.

We’ve made it home and have decided the best thing for this afternoon would be to make a nice cup of Yorkshire tea (and no, the English tea we get here is NOT the same!) and my new handmade mug from Japan and contemplate all the blessings from the last 25 days of our lives. Ool’s preference is the green tea of Japan, where it became clear he had lived a past life. But there is room in my heart for both, after all, it was the year’s I lived in Britain where I studied pottery that gave me my love for Japanese ceramics. The two countries are very linked in my life. And this trip to the two coutries at once was like merging with a younger version of myself so show me something important about how our lives develop in line with sacred geometry. What a life we live! As we pause to take a moment of gratitude before we step into our new lives at the retreat center! ❤️❤️❤️

The toilet knows the battle we women have with the toilet seat!

One of many things to love about Japan. Heated toilet seats. 🤪
