All aboard the growth train!

We disappeared from the socials for a moment…but for a very good reason.

While you were scrolling, living, traveling, and minding your business, we were deep behind the scenes pouring our energy into something we have been working on for a while.

As previously mentioned (in the last feed post), we soft launched something on 2/6/26. The IG stories squad already caught the sneak peek. Since then, it’s been tweak, test, refine, repeat, all in preparation for the hard launch later this week.

So apparently, 2016 is having a moment again?

We're here for it!

Afrostylicity was "born" in 2016. Which means we are turning 10 this year. Wild, right? What started as something to do after grad school became... this. A whole community.

Back then, there was no grand plan, no vision board, no five-year strategy. It was just vibes. It's funny how life works like that. You start something small, thinking it's temporary, and then you blink and a decade has passed. The thing you created on a whim becomes a huge part of your life.

To celebrate 10 years of Afrostylicity, we're launching something new soon. We’ve been working on it behind the scenes for a while now and are genuinely excited about it.

In the meantime, we've been thinking about that 10-year challenge question. Would the 2016 version of yourself recognize who you are today? Would they be surprised? Proud? Confused?

Our 2016 versions would be shocked, honestly. Not in a bad way, just in a "wait, this is what we're doing now?" kind of way.

It's the first day of winter!

While we were preoccupied with holiday festivities, winter was encroaching.

Confession: It's my least favorite season.😖 The dull nature of winter weather is absolutely not my jam. Winter blues, anyone?

That being said, I try to be intentional about not wishing time away. The fact is, uninvited guest or not, winter is here to stay for tne next 3 months. So,making the most of the season is a must-do.

But...

Hopping on a plane and escaping to a sunny destination is a legitimate coping mechanism, don't you think?😅

Today is National Regifting Day.

Yes, that's an actual holiday! 😆

It exists because gifting often focuses on what looks good instead of what actually fits someone’s life.

For travelers, this is especially true.

Travel is not just a hobby. It is a rhythm. A lifestyle. A way of moving through the world. And the things travelers value tend to be very specific. If a gift does not make travel easier, more comfortable, or more meaningful, it rarely becomes part of the journey.

Not all travel adventures require you to leave home!

This fall, we made a pact to explore our own backyard like wide-eyed tourists seeing it for the first time.

And let’s just say it’s been a game-changer!

It turns out that we had been sleeping on exciting Dallas immersive experiences. Gone are the days of "look but don't touch" exhibits. We discovered interactive art installations, uniquely themed spaces, multisensory experiences, and more.

It was a reminder that we don't have to get away from home to enjoy getaway benefits. That's a word! 🤏🏿🤏🏿🤏🏿😅

Fall vibes are officially unlocked at the State Fair of Texas!

There’s been a lot of talk this year about turnout and pricing at the
and yes, some things were on the pricey side.

But...

We figured out a few smart workarounds. We went for the rides, stayed for the vibes, and found plenty of ways to enjoy the fair without spending a fortune.

I know we're 5 days in, but...

Happy October! 🎉

It's my birthday month and I'm in full celebration mode!

If you know me in real life, you already know I don't play about my birthday. It is an observed holiday. All non-essential activities are canceled. The only agenda item is deciding which luxurious activity deserves my attention.

But why stop at one day? The festivities will be ongoing all through October!

It's officially fall!

Remember a few weeks ago when we said we were going to make the most of the last few weeks of summer?

Well, we meant it!

There was no travel opportunity we did not grab. At this point, we are on a first-name basis with airport staff. 😄

We ventured out to destinations that we had never considered visiting but ended up being some of our favorite travel experiences.

Plus, we made it to a country that is so stunning, photos and videos don't do it justice. What’s the opposite of being catfished? Whatever the word for that is, that's what this place was like. Unbelievable!

Why all the vagueness about the destinations, you ask? Well, we love an element of surprise.😄 Details will be revealed in upcoming travel guides.

Meanwhile, happy fall/autumn! What, if anything, are you looking forward to this new season?

This has been the most "summery" summer of all summers! 😄

Heat waves? ✔️

Crowded destinations?✔️

But there were also:

Lasting memories created✔️

It's been weeks of back-to-back travel, with the exciting adventures far outweighing any inconveniences.

Some people say Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial end of summer. We strongly disagree. The official calendar says it ends on September 22nd at 11:59 p.m., so that's what we're rolling with! We still have 3 more weeks to go, and we are going to milk the rest of the summer for all it is worth. 😅
