Today Brookelyn and Bri attended the Elite Conference at Richland Community College in Decatur. The conference was for students interested in becoming ag teachers where the girls worked with other students at the conference to talk about ideal teachers, visited with colleges, and attended workshops to learn more about Ag Education. They both came out of the conference with big smiles so that is a win!

Today our FFA officers hosted an new event called ABC’s of CDE’s to teach high school students and teachers about some of the different contests that FFA members participate in during the fall.

Students and teachers learned about Agronomy, Soils, Horse Judging, Food Science, and Dairy Foods. The officers created posters for 5 events and then had students and teachers participate in a part of each of the contests.

This was a great way to recruit new members to do different contests and also educate our teachers about what we do when we go to contests!

Yesterday we had our first contest of the year and started the year off strong! We traveled to Allerton Park near Monticello for the District 4 Forestry Invitational that was also our section contest.

Today was all about AG SAFETY!

With harvest season upon us, knowing how to safely work around agricultural machinery is important—not only for our students, but for our farmers and entire agricultural community!

Today, students participated in six hands-on safety stations, including a service truck, semi, tractor and grain cart, combine, and two sprayers. Students learned about safe following distances around machinery, safety symbols, equipment safety, and more. They also had the opportunity to get inside and explore the equipment firsthand!

A huge THANK YOU to Flanagan Implement & Service, Flanagan Fertilizer, Thorson Farms and Trucking, and Ben Schneider for bringing equipment and helping make this learning experience possible!

Today, 9 of our students had the opportunity to attend the Heartland Ag & CTE Event and learn more about the many opportunities available through the program!

Students rotated through different stations featuring a variety of agricultural topics, hands-on activities, and career-related experiences. After exploring the stations, students had the chance to attend a career fair, where they connected with businesses and professionals to learn more about potential careers and opportunities in the agriculture and CTE industries.
