📍 TACO FIESTA (Foley)

You know how some lunches are carefully planned?

And some happen because you suddenly realize it's noon and your stomach has started filing formal complaints?

Yeah... this was one of those. 😅

So we headed over to Taco Fiesta in Foley, which has quietly become one of our favorite taco stops in Baldwin County.

This visit was simple:

🌮 Two Campechana Tacos ($3.50 each)
Steak + chorizo on soft tortillas.

Now before anyone reports us to the Street Taco Police...

These were ordered Tex-Mex style because we're gringos and sometimes you just have to embrace who you are. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

The combination of seasoned steak and that spicy chorizo is fantastic. Plenty of flavor, generous portions, and somehow they manage to cram so much into the tortillas that half of it ends up falling out while you're eating.

Which brings us to one of Taco Fiesta's best features...

The complimentary "taco salad" that magically appears in the bottom of the basket. 😎

It's not technically on the menu.

It's just all the delicious stuff that escaped the tacos and now deserves its own moment of appreciation.

Yesterday's weather was perfect, which made the outdoor seating even better. Just good food, sunshine, and a quiet lunch away from the office.

If you prefer indoor seating, you'll want to visit their Gulf Shores location. The Foley location is all outdoor seating, which honestly is part of the charm this time of year.

And at $3.50 per taco?

Let's just say finding lunch that good for under ten bucks isn't getting any easier these days.

📍 The Beach Bun (Orange Beach)

You know that feeling when you're headed to the beach and suddenly realize you're starving?

Not "I could eat" hungry.

More like "I'd seriously consider ordering two lunches" hungry. 😆

That's where The Beach Bun comes in.

Located right in the heart of Orange Beach, this locally owned spot serves up burgers, hot dogs, and beach-day comfort food in a casual, laid-back atmosphere that feels perfectly at home on the coast.

We stopped in and tried:

🌭 Boardwalk Bombshell ($13)
Two Kosher dogs loaded with yellow mustard, house-made chili, cheddar cheese, and purple slaw.

This was the crowd favorite at our table. Messy in all the right ways and packed with flavor.

🍔 Reef Rider ($13)
Smash burger topped with sautéed mushrooms, onions, Swiss cheese, and house sauce.

A solid burger with plenty of savory goodness from the mushrooms and onions.

🍔 Seagull Stopper ($13.50)
Smash burger topped with house-made chili, crispy fried onions, cheddar cheese, and house sauce.

First off... that's a fantastic name. 😂

Second, if you're the type who believes a burger should require a few extra napkins, this one's for you.

Overall, The Beach Bun offers a fun beach-town vibe, friendly service, and a menu that's a little different from the typical chain restaurant experience. It's an easy stop whether you're heading to the beach, leaving the beach, or just looking for a casual lunch in Orange Beach.

And let's be honest...

Any restaurant brave enough to put a "Seagull Stopper" on the menu clearly understands the local wildlife situation. 😏

🐟🍲 : Fish River Grill #2 (Foley) 🍲🐟

Some restaurants come and go.

Others become part of the routine.

FISH RIVER GRILL # 2 FOLEY, ALABAMA has been serving Foley since 2014, and it's one of those places locals keep coming back to. The parking lot stays busy, the food comes out hot, and somehow every visit feels like catching up with an old friend.

After you place your order, they bring out a cup of their famous Swamp Soup.

Now, Fish River Grill created the original Swamp Soup recipe back in 1990, and it's become something of a Gulf Coast legend ever since.

Can we tell you exactly what's in it?

Not really. 😂

We're pretty sure there's collard greens, beans, smoked sausage, chicken broth, and a few secret herbs and spices they're not sharing. The best advice is to stop asking questions and start eating.

For appetizers, we ordered the Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds, which are essentially golden-fried nuggets of cheesy happiness. If you like cheese, these are mandatory.

Next up was the Redneck Reuben.

Thin-sliced corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing piled on toasted rye. We take our Reubens seriously around here, and this one absolutely delivers.

And because we can't visit Fish River Grill without seafood making an appearance, we also ordered the Mississippi Catfish Filets with fries, fried okra, and hush puppies.

Honestly, if someone asked us to build the perfect Southern comfort-food plate, this would be near the top of the list.

What keeps people coming back isn't just the food. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is lively without being overwhelming, and it's the perfect place for a business lunch, family dinner, or a break from the beach crowds.

Have you tried the Swamp Soup? And more importantly...what do you think is actually in it? 🤔😂

Which restaurant do you think we should try next? What should we order, and why?

🚨 South Baldwin Food Alert 🚨

This week’s “strictly professional research” took us to 📍Macho Taco Bar & Grill in Foley…where we may or may not have immediately started questioning every other Mexican order decision we’ve ever made in our lives. 😂

First off:
This place checks a LOT of boxes.

✔️ Casual atmosphere
✔️ Super clean restaurant
✔️ Family-owned
✔️ Huge portions
✔️ Food arriving at the table still sizzling loud enough to trigger nearby hunger

And yes…
we uploaded a video because the fajitas showed up sounding like they were angry at the table. 😆🔥

Here’s what we ordered:

🌮 Chicken Fajitas ($11)
Loaded with grilled onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers, served with rice, beans, and guacamole salad.

And listen…
for eleven bucks?!
That plate came out looking like it was trying to feed an entire softball team.

The chicken was tender, perfectly seasoned, and the vegetables still had that slight char and crunch that makes fajitas hit different.

But now we need to discuss the TRUE star of the meal…

🚨 Arroz Con Carne ($13.95) 🚨

Rice topped with grilled steak and cheese dip.

That’s it.
That’s the post.
Everyone else can pack it up and go home. 😂

Seriously though…
this might officially be my favorite Mexican dish in Baldwin County right now.

The steak was flavorful, slightly crispy around the edges, and absolutely covered in melty cheese dip over seasoned rice like some sort of glorious comfort-food masterpiece.

It’s simple.
It’s cheesy.
It’s ridiculously satisfying.

Basically the culinary equivalent of a weighted blanket. 😏

We also tried the:
🔥 Arroz Con Pollo ($13.95)

Same concept, but with grilled chicken instead of steak, and honestly?
Also fantastic.

If you’re the type who always ends up torn between fajitas and cheese-covered rice dishes…
the correct answer here is apparently:
“Yes.” 😂

📍 Macho Taco Bar & Grill
22394 Miflin Rd Suite 301, Foley, AL

And bonus points:
🍹 Great cocktails
🎶 Live music
🌮 Happy hour food

Which restaurant do y’all think we should try next? 👀

And more importantly…
What should we order when we get there? 😂

Well alrighty then...lol

📍 GooRoo's Grill(Robertsdale)

You know those places people don’t talk about enough…
but absolutely should?

Yeah… this is one of those.

GooRoo’s is quietly putting out some of the best burgers in Baldwin County, and if you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out.

We stopped in and tried:

🍔 Bacon GooRoo Burger ($10.49) – Classic, hand-pressed, no-nonsense burger with crispy bacon that just hits exactly the way it’s supposed to.

🥪 Texas Cheesesteak ($13.49) – Loaded, cheesy, and seriously satisfying.

And here’s the thing…

These aren’t smash burgers or bougie burgers that require a fork and knife.
They’re not trying to be fancy.

These are old-school, hand-pressed burgers…
the kind you’d throw on the grill in your backyard…
and somehow they just hit different.

🔥 Pro Tip:
Add some Country Bob’s sauce to the cheesesteak. Trust us… it gives it that extra little zing that takes it up a notch.

With 1,000+ Google reviews and a 4.6 rating, the secret is definitely getting out… but it still somehow feels like a local favorite people are sleeping on.

Casual, family-friendly, great food, outdoor seating, kids menu… just a solid spot all around.

📍 The Galley On The River (Bon Secour River – Foley)

If you’re looking for fresh food, good times, and a view that just slows everything down a notch… this is your spot.

Tucked right along the Bon Secour River, The Galley On The River brings that perfect mix of coastal flavor + laid-back atmosphere that just feels like Baldwin County.

We stopped in and tried:

🥪 Cubano ($16) – Pulled pork, ham, bacon, Swiss, pickles, and Dijon aioli on Cuban bread… and we’re not exaggerating when we say this was one of the best Cubanos we’ve ever had. Crispy, savory, and absolutely loaded with flavor.

🌮 Fish Tacos ($16) – Three grilled mahi tacos with cilantro lime slaw, chipotle aioli, and tartar… fresh, light, and packed with flavor. Served with seasoned fries that didn’t last long at the table 😄

Between the food, the river views, and the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, this is the kind of place you can roll into for a quick lunch… and somehow end up staying a while.

📍 Waffles R Wild- The Speakeasy (Downtown OWA)

You know that weekend dilemma…

Do you sleep in…
or do you get up early enough to enjoy a proper breakfast?

Yeah… we’re choosing sleep every time 😅

Luckily, Waffles R Wild- The Speakeasy solves that problem by serving breakfast ALL. DAY. EVERY. DAY.

So naturally, we rolled in this weekend for “breakfast” at 1:30 PM like the professionals we are. 😎

We were already HUGE fans of the:

🧇 The Breakfast Waffledilla ($16) – Scrambled eggs, cheese, and your choice of bacon, sausage, or ham, pressed in a waffle maker and served with sour cream and salsa. We go with sausage + a side of home fries, and it hits every single time.

But this visit… we found a new favorite:

🥩 The Highballer Cheesesteak ($15.75) – Shaved steak piled onto savory waffles with melted mozzarella, grilled peppers and onions, and a mild syrup drizzle. We paired it with cheese grits, and yeah… game over.

And if that wasn’t enough…

🍸 Full bar featuring prohibition-era cocktails
🍽️ Full lunch & dinner menu
🎉 Catering available
🚚 Food truck coming back soon

Locally owned, seriously creative menu, and one of the most unique spots in OWA… this place is an absolute can’t miss.

💬 Be honest… are you an early breakfast person, or are you pulling a 1:30 PM “breakfast” run like us?

☀️ Spotlight on Downtown OWA Parks & Resort

If you think you have to pay just to walk around OWA… you’re not alone.

But here’s the truth — Downtown OWA is completely free to visit. 👀

No ticket needed to stroll the streets, check out the shops, grab a bite to eat, or catch events like today’s Mustang & Mega Car Show. The only things you pay for are the amusement park and waterpark — everything else is open for locals and visitors to enjoy.

And days like today? This is exactly why. ☀️
Beautiful spring weather, classic Mustangs, custom builds, families out walking around, kids checking out the cars… just a really good South Baldwin kind of day.

📸 We snapped a few shots from the show this afternoon. It’s hard to beat sunshine, cool cars, and a place that brings people together like this.
