Does the thought of family portraits feel a little stressful?
You’re not alone.
It typically goes something like this:
Someone is worried about their hair.
Someone is running late.
Parents are hoping the children will cooperate.
Kids are wondering how long this is going to take.
It’s all okay and expected. Before the session, we’ve already spent time planning together so everyone knows what to expect.
Then they arrive, and something shifts.
The pressure starts to melt away. People begin to laugh. They tease each other. They tell stories. They settle into being themselves.
By the end of the session, I often hear that the experience was much easier than expected and actually fun.
The photographs are beautiful, but even more important, they carry memories of time spent enjoying each other.
Years from now, these portraits will remind you what everyone looked like.
More importantly, they’ll remind you how it felt to be together.
