Very very soft and about a two inch long

Hi my work shop friends. I have a new goal , am going to try to post a few times a week just to get out of my little Hidy hole I have built for myself over the last few years. If anyone would like to make comments or like to talk a bit feel free.
Ok that being said here is my first post.
I have been spending a lot of time cleaning, picking, carding, and spinning alpaca, wools, silks. I’ve made some very nice yarn and some pretty ugly yarn🤔 today I pulled out some ( what I though was ) alpaca but I’m not sure that is what it is. I’m thanking it may be angora, Im going to have to ask some of the experts on one of my groups.
I’ll leave you with this conundrum and pic if anyone knows what fiber it may be.

Been very busy with my bathtub full of fiber. All the washing and drying racks. House smells faintly like a wet dog, just going through more candals. Steve has been a trooper tripping over wool pickers , carders, spinning wheel, clumps of alpaca all over the house. Stuff is as bad as glitter. I’ll show some finished yarn soon, it to is all over the house 😝.

Hi all
I have a update on the alpaca saga that’s been first and foremost in my house for the last two weeks. I have been averaging about 6 to 8 hours a night. Oh my gosh the cleaned fiber is absolutely beautiful, and so soft.
I still have about 1/4 left to pick at. By the way in one of my posts I said the little bits of VM looked like lice. Welllll I have a habit of sticking my foot in my mouth. So I just stay quiet. Any way this beautiful alpaca does not have lice!! I apologize.
Well back to the update. Here are some pictures of what I have done. Going to be spinning soon yahoo. So far I have 18 batts. Well I have a few day left of picking and carding will you wait for me

Day two on the alpaca project. I managed to get two more messy bats finished. I thank I have processed half the bag now. Speaking of processing, I thank I might look into that with the bathtub full of wool and alpaca.

Hi you all Thought I would update you on the craft room. I’m down to a little here and there left to do . Here are some pictures. You don’t see that I brought up a few of my old sewing machines, my singer 301 and my featherweight 221. I wish I could fit them all in my new craft room but, there it is, small room. I’ll post a few more pictures when it’s finished.

This is what I have been struggling with the last few days. This is a first cut on a beautiful alpaca that my friend has. I washed the fiber and it came out great. Then I started carding it. And that’s when the nightmare started. Regular carders just moved the hay bits around. So I reached out for some suggestions. Use a drum carder, nope bad idea, build a cage and blow the bits out, nope. Get Viking combs. Had to look that one up but found combs that would work, better. Than I got the suggestion to get a dog slick comb. Soooo I went on a field trip to the local pet store and found the brush that was going to salve my problems. Studying the comb I could see how this may do the trick. I got home with my prize and went right to work. So far this is the best idea so I ordered a second one from Amazon.
Now then. My new method to clean is as follows. 1. Pick a piece from the washed fiber and start hand picking. 2. When you thank you have most of it then you use your Viking combs. 3. Then Finley you use your dog comb (alpacas across the land are protesting this unjustness) you brush and brush and brush and low and behold most of the bits are gone.
Now I have been told that more of the bits will fall out when you start spinning.
I’m resigned to my fate now and will catch up on my “law and order” show. But if anyone can tell me what I did wrong in the first place I would be so very great full.

I have been working on my work room for probably 4 or 5 weeks now. I decided this year to stop the craft shows. It was a rough decision because I have been doing it for 25 plus years . I’m tired of the long days but most of all , I don’t want to mass produce products anymore. I would like to concentrate on the art I love the most. Quilting, knitting, processing and spinning fiber and my weaving.
I have spent the last few months purging all my stuff that doesn’t have anything to do with what I’m going to be working on now. It really hit home when I sold my show set up pieces.
I have been redoing my whole room and today I am feeling like there is a light at the end of the tunnel .here are some before pics.
What a mess !!! I’m not quite done yet so I’m going to hold those pictures till I’m done. Won’t be much longer I hope
