This is what happens when you turn on an AI that's been trained on over 3 years of trade school leads, leads that used to just disappear.
We've worked with trade & vocational schools for close to a decade. Back in 2022, right after ChatGPT dropped, we built our own AI sales rep — not a chatbot, not a CRM automation, not an off-the-shelf tool — and we've been training it on trade school sales conversations every year since.
Last week we turned it loose on two clients: a welding school, and a tower technician school.
What changed wasn't the ad spend. It was giving every missed call and every quiet lead someone to work them within minutes, not hours.
→ A call comes in and gets missed — team's on another line, at lunch, already gone for the day
→ Within about 2 minutes, the AI is texting that lead back — deliberately delayed so it doesn't read as automated
→ It works the lead with whatever context it has — call transcripts, form data, area code, prior calls — never a generic "sorry we missed you"
→ It follows an intelligent, non-uniform follow-up cadence, and stands down the moment a real conversation with a human is already underway
→ When a lead's ready, it books straight onto the live calendar itself — no form, no back-and-forth
The results, just a couple days in:
- Welding school: ~20 inbound calls a day from ads alone. AI live a couple of days — 30 missed calls analyzed, 64 messages sent, 7 replies (23% reply rate), fastest reply in 4 minutes
- Tower technician school: AI live 2 days — 46 form-fill leads who hadn't booked a call yet, 99 messages sent, 13 replies (28% reply rate), 3 calls booked directly by the AI, averaging 1.8 minutes between replies
Speed-to-lead studies have shown it for years — the odds of ever reaching a sales rep collapse after the first five minutes. Not the first day. The first five minutes. Every missed call worked too slowly is tuition you already paid to generate, going to the next school on the list.
This isn't built to replace the sales team. It's built to make them superhuman on the leads they'd never get to in time — and even this early, the team's own read is that it's on track to generate millions in tuition revenue for these two clients alone.
