Roofers: here is what most lead aggregators actually give you.

You pay for a lead, and so do three or four other contractors in your market.

The homeowner picks up the phone, hears from five different roofers in two hours, and goes with whoever sounds cheapest.

The FTC found this practice deceptive enough to order $7.2 million in restitution against one of the big platforms in 2023.

So what ends up being the cost per booked job on these platforms? Contractors report clearing $1,400 per close once you factor in how few of those calls actually convert.

Shared leads with no exclusivity, no real data on who you're calling, and no control over how the homeowner experiences your brand.

But there is a version of lead gen where the lead is yours alone, you know the homeowner's name, address, preferred appointment time, and service type before you pick up the phone, and you're not racing anyone on price.
