A huge shout out to all the Webmistresses out there!
Happy National WebMistress Day!
A day to recognize women in web development. 💃
Now... Let's turn the word mistress on its head...
The word master is the male version of that word.
What do you think when you hear the word webmaster? You automatically think of someone who is a master of the web, an expert... right?
There is a negative connotation with the word mistress...
Let’s change that!
Women have been scared away from tech for many reasons: too hard, too masculine, too nerdy, too techy, too this, too that...
But ANYONE can learn ANYTHING! 💪
It's so empowering learning to code and being able to do something that only 5% (yes 5%!) of the world's population can do. It's not easy, but it's soooo rewarding! 😊
All of GeekPack students say how empowering and cool it is to learn to code... not only for the skills, but the lifestyle those skills help you achieve:
🦸♀️ Freedom
👸 Independence (location, financial, etc)
👩 Flexibility (time with friends, family, hobbies)
Just being able to say; "YES I know how to code" feels empowering.
Regardless of where you are right now, if you have ever considered adding web development to your toolbelt...
I guarantee you that:
➭ YOU CAN DO IT!
So let's round off with a thank you to all those webmistresses and anyone who aspires to be! 👏
A special shoutout from me to ALL of our fellow Rockstars!
Give a shoutout to an outstanding woman in development in the comments 📣⇩
