I don’t ever post on Facebook. But I wanted to take a moment to make sure that my Instagram message made it here.
To my white followers + clients, this is for you (and for me). Our businesses are powerful platforms.
We have great influence, even if our audiences aren’t in the thousands. I know this, because I know what kind of revenue and change I can generate through a few conversations (and you too).
I know the brand deals and client rosters and speaking opportunities that come our way.
The audiences that are obsessed with having the lifestyle we promote.
I know, because the whole reason this business exists is to help women create enormous power and profit through strategic relationships.
And it works.
Whatever social capital you have, it’s time to start spending it on anti-racism work. Black lives matter.
We can’t pretend that we have no influence while also profiting from our influence.
Silence has been the norm amongst many of the white-woman owned lifestyle brands around me.
I understand. I have been inexcusably silent for too long. Now is the time for us to start doing better.
I know it can be uncomfortable to speak up when you don’t know what to say. Speak up anyways.
Let me assure you, there is nothing beautiful and luxurious about the lifestyle you are selling if it is not also on the side of justice.
For The AgenShe and our white Exceptionelle CMO clients, we have paused all content for the week in order to allow our platforms to amplify Black voices.
If you're looking for a place to donate, I love the tangible impact of on Instagram as well as your local bailout fund.
