Sometimes being a stylist is about so much more than showing someone their colors. It’s about helping them embrace where they are in life and feel beautiful in the season they’re currently living.
That’s exactly what I had the privilege of doing yesterday with Mary.
Mary had been told she was an Autumn many years ago, but after letting her hair naturally turn gray, she no longer felt comfortable in the colors she once loved. She found herself gravitating toward silver jewelry, blues, and clothing that she felt better complemented her new look.
Through her analysis, we discovered that she is still very much an Autumn. One of the things I always tell my clients is that your season never changes. Your undertones remain the same throughout your life. However, as we age, our hair changes, our skin loses collagen, and the colors that truly make us shine can shift within our palette.
And that’s exactly what happened for Mary.
She realized she no longer felt her best in some of the earthy, leaf-inspired colors she once reached for. Instead, we discovered that she absolutely glows in many of the more vibrant and softer shades within the Autumn palette.
By the end of our session, Mary wasn’t trying to be the woman she was 20 years ago. She was embracing who she is today—still an Autumn, just a different expression of one.
She left feeling confident, beautiful, and excited to dress for this new chapter of life. And moments like that remind me that color analysis isn’t really about colors at all—it’s about helping people see themselves in the best possible light. ✨
Knowing is the key to glowing. 💫
