I didn't wake up one day with confidence.

what I DID wake up and decide was that I was done letting fear run the show. so I started showing up on camera anyway. shaky voice, bad lighting, no idea what I was doing.

confidence didn't show up first and hand me permission. it showed up after, because I kept doing the thing scared enough times that it stopped being scary.

nobody's born ready. you just start before you feel ready, and "ready" catches up eventually.

being for everyone is how you end up beloved by absolutely no one.

be so specific that the wrong people leave and the right people go "wait, is this account MADE for me?"

one of my favorite parts of the job? weaving affiliate marketing into my clients' social media strategy.

it sounds more complicated than it is. most people hear "affiliate marketing" and picture a whole separate business to manage. it's not. it's just another income stream built into content you're already creating, and I handle all of it: the platform setup, the product picks, the tracking, all of it.

you keep showing up as yourself. I make sure it's working in the background too.

blending in is bad for business. and honestly, kind of boring too.

the accounts that get remembered aren’t the polished, play-it-safe ones. they’re the ones with an actual point of view. a real voice. something to say that isn’t just “buy this.”

content that looks like everyone else’s content gets scrolled past like everyone else’s content. that’s just how it works.

but here’s the flip side: you already have the thing that makes you unmissable. your actual voice, your specific take, the way only you would say it. it’s not somewhere you have to go find. it’s just been sitting under all the “professional” polish, waiting for permission to come out.

let it out. be the one people can’t mix up with anyone else.

nobody’s going to cheer as loud for you as you need to be cheering for yourself. not the friend who’s busy with her own life, not the algorithm, not whoever you’re hoping notices.

so be the one yelling “GO” before you even feel ready.

nobody’s coming to hype you up first. do it yourself, then watch who shows up after.

that is what my three year old niece asked me one day while on vacation in Disney.

I’d shown her a couple of my silly videos. she watched, took a full step back, looked me up and down, and said “why are you like this?”

…fair question, honestly.

my answer: because that’s what makes me JoJo.

somewhere between being a kid and being an adult, most of us learn to shrink the weird parts of ourselves down until they’re “acceptable.”

makes you wonder what you’d post, say, or start if you weren’t conditioned to shrink yourself in the first place.

somewhere along the way “behind the scenes of running a business” became synonymous with typing on a MacBook in a clean kitchen. mine looks like that sometimes too, but it also looks like this. trail dust, no signal, and the same brain that builds content strategy also needed a minute to just look at a waterfall.

the work is real. so is this. both build the business.
