3. What quality standards are processors and export buyers becoming more strict about right now?
4. How much does harvest timing impact the final grower check, and what mistakes do you see most often?
5. What trends are you seeing in rejected loads or dockage that growers should pay closer attention to?

California agriculture and water agencies are paying close attention after invasive golden mussels were confirmed in major Central Valley water systems, prompting Kern County officials to declare a local State of Emergency.

The concern for growers and water districts centers around how quickly these mussels can spread through canals, pipelines, and irrigation infrastructure. Experts warn infestations could create long-term challenges tied to water movement and operational costs across California’s agricultural regions. $5M in federal funding has also been announced to support mitigation and response efforts as agencies work to slow the spread throughout the state’s water network.
