Good Friday, Gadsden and all across Etowah County! Welcome back to another episode of the Mountain Lakes Telegraph—your weekly look at what’s happening right here in our backyard.

And if you’ve stepped outside today, you already know… we are in that *perfect* Alabama window ☀️ Comfortable temps, a little breeze, and just enough sunshine to remind you this is the time of year to get out and enjoy everything going on locally.

Now before we get into all the hometown events, let’s talk about the big one—Talladega 🏁 It’s race weekend, and you can feel it everywhere. Whether you’re headed down there or just enjoying the energy from here, this is one of those weekends where Alabama really shows out.

But don’t overlook what’s happening right here at home—we’ve got a lot going on.

This weekend is packed with activity, including a huge food and culture festival in town with dozens of food trucks, vendors, and plenty to see and do 🍔🎶 It’s one of those events where you can just show up and spend a few hours walking around, eating way too much, and running into people you know.

If you’re looking for something a little more relaxed, downtown is still buzzing with those springtime walking tours and local gatherings—great way to slow things down and take in the history and charm of Gadsden 🚶‍♂️

And as we head toward the end of April, things don’t let up. There’s live music popping up all over the place, community events, outdoor activities, and plenty of reasons to get out—especially with places like Noccalula Falls really starting to shine this time of year 🌄

That’s what this show is all about—making sure you don’t miss what’s happening right here in your own community.

So whether you’re headed to Talladega, checking out something local, or just looking for an excuse to get out of the house—we’ve got you covered.

Let’s get into it.

Join us this week for another episode of the Mountain Lakes Telegraph as we take a look at everything happening around Gadsden and Etowah County as spring really starts to hit its stride.

We’ve got a great stretch of weather for getting out and enjoying it. Warm temperatures and sunshine are sticking around through Saturday, which lines up perfectly for a lot of outdoor events. Things cool off a bit on Sunday with a breeze, then settle into that classic Alabama spring pattern—comfortable days, mild evenings, and just a slight chance of rain creeping in later next week.

And there’s no shortage of things to do. We’ll be talking about events happening all across the area, including outdoor favorites like fly fishing at Black Creek and the Spring Lantern Festival out at Noccalula Falls. You’ve also got the Alabama Bass Trail tournament at Coosa Landing, local car shows, and community events happening throughout the weekend.

If you’re looking for something a little more laid back, the free downtown walking tours continue this Saturday and every weekend through April—perfect way to enjoy the weather and explore downtown Gadsden.

We’ll also be teasing a few more events coming up through April 25th, so we’ve got you covered.

We owe you an apology… we haven’t been posting as much lately outside of our weekly videos. We’ve been heads down working for our sponsors and clients—focusing on what actually brings customers through the door.

One of the biggest ways we help local businesses grow is simple: we make sure people who are already looking for them… can actually find them. Every month, many of our sponsors have 100+ people actively searching for the exact products or services they offer. And when someone is searching, they’re usually ready to buy—or very close to it. That’s a much different customer than someone just casually scrolling social media.

But here’s the reality… if a business doesn’t show up in those search results, those customers are going somewhere else. People can’t spend money with a business they don’t see or don’t know exists.

Behind the scenes, we’re constantly reviewing traffic—both for individual businesses and across the entire platform. We look at what people are searching for, how they’re finding it, and what’s working. Then we make adjustments to help our sponsors show up more often and in the right places.

It’s not flashy work, but it’s effective—and it’s just one of the unique ways we support local businesses here in Etowah County.

Reminder that today begins the street closure in Downtown Gadsden for crosswalk work. I’m mostly posting this for myself as a reminder, because I’m the first one that will forget 😂.

We’re excited about all the improvements being made by the City of Gadsden and can’t wait to enjoy them when it’s all finished!

This week on The Mountain Lakes Telegraph, we’re shaking off the stress of a long week and heading straight into the weekend mindset a little early.

If it feels like the days have been dragging and the to-do list just keeps growing, you’re not alone. That’s exactly why this week’s show is all about finding those moments to hit pause, reconnect with friends, and enjoy what makes our community special.

As always, our focus is on supporting local businesses and helping you discover something new right here at home.

Sorry for the mix up, I really wanted today's show to be live but after a second try and technical difficulties with my mic, it's just not going to happen today.

These past two weeks have been hectic and I haven't been able to properly get ready for the show during that time, but we will try harder next week to make it extra special. I hope everyone has a blessed Easter / Holy Week and has had a great Spring Break this year!

Welcome into this week's show! What a wild week from starting off with a snow day to now being 76 degrees. Gotta love that March Alabama weather. We've had a busy week helping clients and supporting a lot of live local music this week too. We've got plenty to talk about this week, so we're glad you've joined us!

This weekend looks like one of those rare sweet spots on the calendar where everything lines up just right. We’ve got a stretch of beautiful weather before the mosquitoes rise from the fiery pit they’ve apparently been nesting in all winter, and before “the pollening” goes from light warning signs to a full yellow coating on every vehicle in town. That and the forecast stays dry all the way until late Sunday night.

With St. Patrick’s Day coming up next week, the celebrations are starting early around the area, and there will be plenty of reasons to get out, be social, and enjoy the energy building across the community. There’s a little something for the early risers, plenty for folks who like to be out and about during the day, and a strong excuse to keep the fun going into Saturday night before the weekend winds down more gently on Sunday.
