Who is Pickleweeds Press?

In 1984 I began my career in the printing industry at a web label printing company in a small town in New Hampshire. Back then my tools of the trade were rapidographs, t-squares, wax and stat paper. I was trained to typeset, create camera ready art, and master paste-up.

All of that is long gone in the age of PC’s. My last position at an offset printing company ended shortly before the company doors closed for good in the 90’s. Who needs a printer when we all have home PC’s?

I’ve kept my hand in design, taught myself HTML to be part of the website revolution, and created .docs for use in my other employment choices. But when it was time for me to retire from my stressful retail job, I had to take some time to decide what was next.

I’ve gone back to my first love, printing. Then paired it with my second desire - to live and work in the same town! My small studio is a mile from my house in a little city that I’ve adopted as my own, Gastonia, North Carolina.
