De Vor Communications is proud to have been the presenting sponsor of the Mobilise End-of-the-Year Social celebrating transportation wins and those tireless advocates ensuring it becomes a system inclusive for all users. Milwaukee County Transit System usage placed Milwaukee among the top ten U.S. metro areas with the strongest recovery for transit ridership since the pandemic. MobiliSE’s own program, FlexRide (founded in 2022), connecting Milwaukee workers with suburban jobs, continues to grow as it celebrates its 100,000th ride!

MobiliSE recognized its first ever Bill Sell Transit Champion Award winner, Brisa E. Van Galen of VIA Community Development Corporation for creating a better, more comfortable environment for pedestrians and transit users on Milwaukee’s southside. Diana Vang-Brostoff accepted an award on behalf of her late husband, Alderman Jonathan Brostoff, for championing safe streets and transportation justice. His legacy of community service, advocacy and fighting for the most vulnerable members of our community continues.

De Vor is especially proud to have provided communications during the reconstruction of Walnut and Wells streets, two Complete Streets projects that MobiliSE highlighted. As we look to the future, we are proud to help facilitate the continuing conversation around safe, reliable, equitable and accessible transportation options in the area.

From adding pedestrian-protecting curb extensions on Locust Street in Harambee to implementing a protected bike lane on Wells Street downtown, we commend the City of Milwaukee's actions to develop a system inclusive to all users. We are proud to support the City’s efforts to ensure local residents and visitors are well informed about construction progress and completions.

Amazing roundtable from Mobilise, TDA Wisconsin, and Wisconsin Bike Fed in exploring transportation choices for workforce and quality of life. The role of public engagement came up multiple times during the event, particularly in relation to lifting barriers and ensuring everyone – including the most vulnerable community members – can participate in the process. This is an essential aspect of involving the community in the process of achieving great outcomes. Panelists also discussed access to transportation enhancing employers’ ability to recruit and retain talent, and how strong transit makes for a more equitable transportation system. It’s encouraging to hear about developing regional partnerships as the mayors of The City of Waukesha and City of West Allis, WI Government are working with Milwaukee County Transit System to establish more effective transportation solutions.

De Vor Communications was thrilled to join this year's Southeast Transportation Symposium, themed Collaborate to Innovate! From governmental agencies to community advocates to consultant partners like us, we tackled the most challenging issues facing mobility systems from multimodal to transit to the highway network.

A highlight was joining our friends from UWM School of Architecture and Urban Planning and City of Milwaukee for a campus tour that showcased cutting-edge pedestrian- and bicycle-focused designs while workshopping new opportunities for safety.

Kudos to University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Institute for Physical Infrastructure and Transportation for such a great event!

September was another busy month connecting the Wisconsin Department of Transportation with the public to ensure stakeholders can plan for construction that might affect business and travel.

The I-894 rehabilitation project required two weekends of closures on this critical southeastern Wisconsin artery. We worked diligently to help convey WisDOT’s message to the traveling public during the milling and paving operation that saw the construction team resurface the equivalent of almost 19 football fields using 18,000-plus tons of asphalt. De Vor Communications was there in the early hours of the morning both weekends to document the work to share with local stakeholders.

We also proudly supported the WisDOT project team in coordinating the Ballard Road Interchange Business Meeting to ensure Appleton area business owners are well informed about next year’s I-41 Project activity. This includes offering temporary business signage options to help customers access their locations during construction. This meeting was both online and in-person to lift any barriers to participation.

A little rain doesn’t stop us from going door-to-door to notify North Lake Drive residents in Milwaukee about upcoming access changes related paving operations.

Customized, advance notice is paramount to ensuring people can plan ahead during impactful, yet necessary stages of construction.

Independence Day, commonly known as the 4th of July, is a vibrant and patriotic holiday celebrated by families and friends across the U.S. Let us raise our voices and hearts in gratitude for the freedoms we hold dear.

In the heartland of Wisconsin, the Rhinelander community stands as a beacon of resilience and camaraderie. They embraced and welcomed De Vor Communications with open arms as we kicked off the opening of our new downtown office.

Yesterday, as the sun painted the sky in hues of red, white, and blue, De Vor joined Rhinelander’s parade. Our team, side by side with fellow citizens, carried the torch of patriotism.

Amidst the cheers and fluttering flags, one individual shone brightly - Dawn Knuth Panzer Her unwavering dedication to the Northwoods Honor Flight Benefit (https://www.facebook.com/share/QN7nArYmnLuNyiJ6/) program exemplifies civic duty and compassion. For years, she has honored our veterans, ensuring their sacrifices are etched into the annals of history. Dawn, we salute you, and thank you for teaming with De Vor Communications on an incredibly important day.

While construction is a necessary part of summer, it shouldn’t prevent community events. Especially not Milwaukee's Juneteenth Celebration, one of the longest-running celebrations in the country! With the Jubilee Parade culminating on the site of the East/West Locust Street reconstruction project, we are proud to have helped facilitate safety and access for the route. Our Public Involvement team along with the entire Locust Street project team including our partners at DPW Milwaukee met and coordinated with Northcott Neighborhood House to ensure access and safety for the thousands who enjoyed the celebration.

It was an honor to join Mayor Cavalier Johnson and partners City of Milwaukee, DPW Milwaukee, Alderman Mark Chambers Jr, and Rep. Jonathan Brostoff for the annual Mayor’s Bike Ride, including a spin on the new Walnut Street protected bike lane. We support the city’s vision of infrastructure for all users and are proud to be part of the Walnut Street project, along with leading public engagement for redesigns of Lisbon Avenue and Sherman Boulevard.
