01/02/2026
I spent the last month of 2025 making a quiet decision about 2026.
Not to move faster, post more, or chase what’s working for everyone else.
Instead, I’m choosing to build marketing and content strategies for myself and my clients that prioritize clear thinking and useful valuable content, over noise and performative marketing tactics.
Through my agency, Blu Oak Marketing, I work with businesses of one.
Consultants, advisors, brokers, specialists, coaches, educators, authors, and solo operators.
People with real expertise, and no time for games and gimmicky videos.
If you identify as a business of one, or you’re preparing to become one, here are 3 content and marketing realities I’m confident about as we step into 2026.
Prediction #1:
YouTube and LinkedIn are no longer platforms. They are trust infrastructure.
YouTube is not social media anymore. It’s what we now call connected TV (CTV). And we now have 150 million people in the US watching YouTube on their TV every month.
People don’t just scroll YouTube like IG/TikTok. They watch, listen, and decide!
If your expertise can’t be found there, your competitor will explain and earn that biz instead.
LinkedIn plays a different role.
It’s where credibility is quietly verified before someone reaches out, books a call, or forwards your name.
Together, these platforms aren't asking you to be everywhere. They’re telling you where decisions are already being made.
Prediction #2:
AI will expose who has done the thinking.
AI alone won’t be your advantage in 2026. Doing the thinking first will be.
The people who win won’t be the ones letting AI just speak for them. They know what they believe, what they stand behind, and how they explain their work and value clearly, then they use AI to reduce repetition and amplify what’s already solid.
What that looks like:
✅ Explain your expertise once.
✅ Use AI to repurpose it without changing your voice or intent.
✅ Let AI handle repetition so you don't burnout!
I believe AI is to be used as a consistency tool and not a substitute for thinking.
Prediction #3:
Visibility is no longer optional, even if referrals built your business.
Yes! Referrals still matter. Reputation still matters. But in 2026, reputation is verified digitally.
Truth is... when someone hears your name, they searching you. I do it and you do it...
On Google.
On LinkedIn.
On YouTube.
And increasingly through your preferred AI assistant:
You know you asking Chatty G (PT) 😂
So if you’re not clearly explaining your work somewhere consistent, your competitor will explain it close enough and win that business. Not because they’re better but because they’re visible.
If you’re a business of one, this is not the year for performative marketing or vanity metrics. It’s the year to decide carefully, explain your expertise confidently, and let consistency do the work most people are too impatient to do.
Which prediction are you betting on for '26?
