Well today is the winter solstice, which means the start of bee season. Of course we have a few months of cold weather lag, but our hives should slowly start to increase in size.

What kind of mite treatments did you do over the past summer/fall? Any adjustments for this year?

Join us on Tuesday, November 15th for a hybrid meeting featuring Jennifer Berry.
Jennifer works at the UGA Bee Lab and has been a friend to MABA and to the GBA for many years. Jennifer is passionate about honey bee health, assisting new beekeepers, and educating people about nectiferous plants for bees.

Jennifer will be presenting the results of the Bee Lab's extensive testing of oxalic acid v***r treatments for varroa mites. Most people know that oxalic acid v***rization does NOT kill the mites that are underneath cell cappings. But is there a way to overcome that limitation by repeatedly treating the bees? Jennifer's team has done more testing of this hypothesis, and she will present to us the results of those controlled tests.
