Illini Bluffs E mail:
February 15, 2022
Good evening,
Earlier today, the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) voted against extending the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) emergency rule on school mask mandates. In light of this development, our district is highly recommending students and staff continue wearing masks in alignment with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); however, masks will no longer be required regardless of vaccination status. In addition, Illini Bluffs #327 will no longer contact trace or exclude close contacts from school. These changes are effective starting tomorrow, Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
Please note the following are not impacted by the JCAR vote and still apply:
• Masks will still be required on any school-based transportation due to federal order.
• Students and staff that test positive will be excluded from school.
• On-site rapid testing will still continue free of charge.
• For extra-curricular activities, athletes, coaches and visitors will need to adhere to the guidelines of that school.
• Required weekly testing for unvaccinated employees remains in effect.
We will continue all other mitigation measures which we feel has allowed us to maintain a healthy and safe environment throughout this school year. The health and safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. Please make sure to continue to monitor your child’s health and keep them home if not feeling well so that we continue to keep our schools open and our children learning.
I want to again thank all of those that expressed their opinions with respect and kindness during this difficult time. I appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue to navigate this pandemic together.
