Signal, The Open-Sourced Deluxe Alternative to “Surveillance Capitalism” Focused WhatsApp.

Since 2009, WhatsApp has carried a reputation for encrypted “secure” messaging. In 2014 the company was purchased by Facebook for 19 billion dollars.
In February 2021, a new “privacy policy” will be instituted with “far from privacy-focused” clauses. If you don’t agree to this policy, your account will be terminated.

It states, (direct quote)
“We are part of the Facebook Companies. As part of the Facebook Companies, WhatsApp receives information from, and shares information with, the Facebook Companies as described in WhatsApp’s Privacy Policy, including to provide integrations that enable you to connect your WhatsApp experience with other Facebook Company Products; to ensure security, safety, and integrity across the Facebook Company Products; and to improve your ads and products experience across the Facebook Company Products.”

They are using YOUR INFORMATION to “improve your ads and products experience across the Facebook Company Products” (Facebook, Instagram).

Wow! Do you really want “your ads” improved? Millions have chosen privacy and have switched to signal or telegram.
Is Signal Better? Yes! Let’s look at some reasons why.

Signal is an open-sourced application. According to Tech Radar,” This means that all of the code for the app is publicly available to view, making it impossible for the creators to sneak in any backdoors that could give governments or hackers access to your messages.”

Their privacy policy reads,
“Signal does not sell, rent or monetize your personal data or content in any way – ever.” Further down, it says, “Signal cannot decrypt or otherwise access the content of your messages or calls. Signal queues end-to-end encrypted messages on its servers for delivery to temporarily offline devices (e.g., a phone whose battery has died). Your message history is stored on your own devices.”

Signal has a deluxe platform that can integrate your SMS (Text Messaging) with your signal messages in one seamless experience. This puts ALL of your messages in one convenient place.

Another app called Telegram has also captured a considerable number of users that have quit using WhatsApp. Disadvantages of Telegram are, the messages ARE NOT ENCRYPTED by default, and it is not entirely open-source.

How to Geek says it like this,
“If you’re serious about maximum privacy for your communications, you should pick Signal. It’s built from the ground up to be as private as possible by default. It’s clear why (as of early January 2021) Signal is beating Telegram on the App Store charts.”

At the end of the day, the choice is up to you. Do you want to feed streams of data to the “Facebook companies,” or would you like to have a private, encrypted conversation with your friend or family member? Choose Wisely!

Many of you are likely wondering what the cryptic post (The writing is on the wall. Stay tuned for a more in-depth post coming soon....) on 01/13/2021 was all about.....
Here is part 1 of the answer.

For the last several months, Facebook has shown itself to be incredibly hostile to many of the beliefs and values we hold very dear. Their unrelenting assault on all who would dare to voice anything contrary to FaceBook approved speech has been astounding at best, if not completely despicable. This censorship, combined with the banning of a sitting US President and the recent ultimatum given to WhatsApp users, which amounts to give us your data or leave, is a clear sign of a company I want as little to do with as possible.
Very shortly, 1 Way Web will discontinue posting any content on this business page and move to strictly posting links to either our blog or the 1 Way Web page on MeWe.

As many of you are aware hurricane Laura slammed into Texas and Louisiana with Lake Charles L.A. being hit the worst.

Please join us in donating to PCCR.

PCCR is a disaster and relief organization with teams of mostly volunteers who respond to natural disasters and other man made crisis around the world.

PCCR currently have a crew on the ground in Lake Charles, they arrived a few hrs after the hurricane Laura passed.

Elijah McMillan who does website design here at 1 Way Web is currently volunteering with PCCR in Lake Charles.

As a company we are looking to help in any way we can which includes raising awareness as well as helping to fund PCCR's work there.

A large part of what the current team is doing is clearing roadways of trees and other debris.

This is an incredibly important part of disaster recovery because until the roads are clear power can not be restored and other side and relief can not be brought in.

Imagine you are trying to restore power to a neighborhood but every 100+ feet there is a huge tree across the road.

Now imagine if you will showing up to find the trees removed and a clear roadway.

This allows the electrical workers to focus on what they do best, fixing powerlines and get it done much faster.

If enough road ways are not cleared in the first couple days the food and especially clean water that many people have on hand will begin to run out increasing the risk of dehydration and and death.

I’m not here to argue to fact that some of the services provided by the Facebook group, (i.e Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, and Messenger) are useful for personal and business use. In fact, Facebook is a prime advertising platform for business owners and a social pool for those with the time to swim in it! So why not, There are so many positive things that it adds to our lives, or does It?
