Katherine Elizabeth Events custom invitations & stationery

handmade custom designs for your wedding and home.

Katherine Elizabeth Events is a custom design studio located just outside New York City. Founded on the idea that wedding stationery shouldn’t be conventional, mass-produced, or run-of-the-mill, we believe in giving wedding paper genuine personality. We believe that an invitation sets the tone for an entire event, and it can have the power to tell a beautiful story. We take the personality of a co

uple and the feel of their wedding and translate it into an heirloom-quality invitation that not only speaks to them, but about them. We are looking for couples who don’t settle for trends; who not only want to invite their guests, but excite them. In 2014 we introduced The Paper Florist, a line of paper flower designs for bridal and the home. For a look that’s anything but ordinary, colors that perfectly match your event or home decor, and a bouquet or arrangement that is both a work of art and a lasting statement, paper flowers are what you have been looking for.

Cheers to Ilana & Corey! When Ilana first came to me one of her biggest concerns was finding a script with a “good letter I”. She loved a lot of script fonts but thought that too often the first letter of her name looked more like an L or T or even a J. I assured her we’d find a good one, but it was a way bigger challenge than I anticipated. I was almost ready to give in and hire to do some spot calligraphy, but I decided I’d try one last option first where I had redrawn the I digitally (by hand), and that was the winner! I love how their names look on the final invitation; they’re big and beautiful but with a touch of whimsy and the perfect letter I!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “The best wedding stationery you will find! From day 1, Katie not only captured our vision, but was flexible when we had last minute edits throughout the entire process (thanks to sh*tty spell check on computers & last minute invites). We hired Katie for our wedding invitations and day of stationery items, and everyone noted how gorgeous EVERYTHING was. Everything designed and executed was exactly as I’d imagined, but BETTER! Truly the best hands down in the tri-state area.” -Kyra H

Cheers to Rebecca & Robert, who tied the knot last weekend at the iconic Metropolitan Club New York. Their custom folio featuring a hand-painted watercolor of the club’s wrought-iron gates was a favorite this season!

Did you know the average couple spends 5% of their wedding budget on stationery? The “Stationery” category includes Save the Dates, Invitations, coordinating Day-of items like ceremony programs, dinner menus, seating charts and signage, place cards, and more… and when the dust has settled, Thank You notes.
::
So what does that mean realistically? If you’re spending $60k on your whole wedding (the average in NJ!) you should tuck away $3-4k of that for all of your stationery needs. You can easily spend more than that if stationery is high value to you, and if you couldn’t care less about this category (you’re probably not one of my followers!!), you can certainly spend less. The important thing is to have realistic expectations so you can budget accordingly! Here’s some more quick math:

$80k wedding —-> $4000-5600 for 💌
$100k wedding —-> $5000-7000 for 💌
$125k wedding —-> $6200-8800 for 💌
$150k wedding —-> $7500-10500 for 💌
$200k wedding —-> $10-14k for 💌
$300k wedding —-> $15-21k for 💌
$500k+ wedding —-> $25k+ for 💌
::
Again, these are *averages*. I never ask a client what they’re spending on their whole wedding because, frankly, it’s none of my business. But I will ask potential clients what their stationery budget is, and SO often the answer is “I have no idea!” Sooo save this post for reference (and round up on these numbers if you want extra special wedding paper!)

“Katie’s work is SO stunning!!! We are absolutely in love with all of our stationary and day-of items. We wanted a classic and clean design and Katie helped us achieve just that. We used the custom monogram Katie designed for us throughout our entire wedding - on the invitations, the ceremony program, the matchboxes, hotel bags, the ice sculpture, the DJ booth, cocktail napkins, the list goes on! It truly tied our whole wedding together. She also drew an illustration of Eagle Oaks to use on our invitations and our matchboxes, as well as designed our signature drink signs. Everything was so gorgeous! Katie was lovely to work with and was so helpful throughout the entire process. We cannot recommend her enough! Thank you Katie!!!“

Have you ever been to a wedding where there was a personal note addressed to you waiting at your place setting? Or where the bride printed their favorite photo of you together and used it as your es**rt card? Or where your favor was personalized to YOU instead of with the wedding branding? Or where your plate of food looked different from your date’s because the bride and groom knew about your gluten intolerance and provided you with a special meal without you having to ask or pick around what you couldn’t eat?

I could go on, but my point is that these moments do not always cost you more money as the host, but they do leave a lasting impression on your guests. And the impression left is that you value them as a member of your family and inner circle, and you’re truly thankful and honored to have them at your wedding. Couples are always told “this is your day, it’s all about what you want”..: but that’s not entirely accurate. The whole point of a wedding is to share this special occasion with your favorite people. And as you plan your big day, keep in mind that your guests will love the flowers and the cake and the cloud dance, and they’ll think “this all must have cost a fortune”… but they’ll be much more wowed by moments that make THEM feel special.
::
Some of my couples come to me with their own unique ideas for these personal touches, but I also have tons of suggestions for ways to incorporate custom moments into your day-of stationery! Let’s chat 🤍

“Katie was absolutely amazing to work with! We used her to create our beautiful invitation suite for our wedding, and couldn’t be more thrilled with how they turned out. Our guests absolutely loved them! We wanted the invitation to be white and elegant, so our envelope was done in a beautiful purple shimmery color, with a floral liner. It was done in such a beautiful way! I couldn’t recommend Katie more!”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Katie and I went to college together years ago, so I knew she was incredibly artistic and organized. Little did I know how gifted Katie is at what she does. My partner and I had a few ideas and requests when we first met (including the desire to be eco friendly), and Katie was able to tap into what we wanted and more, bringing an entire vision to life. Her artistry and organization are top notch, and she is very professional and responsive which is not easy to find. We received so many compliments from guests on the invitations, saying they were the most beautiful invitations they had ever received. We agree!

Reconnecting and working with Katie on the invitation suite and day of stationary has been a highlight of our entire wedding planning experience and set the tone and feel for the entire wedding process. She is an artist through and through~I highly recommend Katherine Elizabeth Events!“ - Katie V

“Designing our invitations with Katie was my favorite part of wedding planning. I found Katie through reviews on Facebook and set up a zoom consultation. Katie is so sweet and designed many different style options for us. My mom and I first went into her studio to see all of the different shades, details, fonts, and her previous work. When we narrowed down the final designs, we went in again to pick from three physical proofs. She designed our monogram and we used it throughout our wedding on our cake, invitation, menus, and above our sweetheart table. We got so many compliments about how beautiful the invitation suites were. Katie was so responsive and wonderful to work with.“

Here’s the thing: Wedding planning can be *stressful*. But it doesn’t have to be, seriously. The easiest way to lower your stress level is to remember it’s only ONE day. And although it’s a super important day, and you want everything to be perfect, it’s not worth your sanity over essentially 12-36 hours of your life. I see so many brides losing sleep and losing their sh*t left and right over the tiniest details… and at the end of the day it actually doesn’t matter that much. Like, ACTUALLY.
::
I’ve been immersed in this industry for almost 15 years and I LOVE weddings. I might even be obsessed. But my #1 rule of thumb is your wedding should be a joyful occasion. Your season of engagement should be fun and full of anticipation for not just one big day but for the next chapter of your lives together. I know it’s not easy, but when something doesn’t go as planned at any stage of the planning process, try to take a deep breath and fast-forward 10 years. Will you even remember this moment? And will it actually matter?
::
If you’re reading this and you’re planning a wedding, I hope the process has been joyful, and if it’s not.. I hope you find a way to take it a smidge less seriously so you can have more fun with it!
