Peace be with you!
Where to start? At the beginning, and here it is! The first word of encouragement I heard whispered in my ear, “Don’t despise humble beginnings”.
A Catholic chamber of commerce? Why not? I’ve been networking my whole business life. I’ve been wanting to do a directory ever since I worked for yellow pages and then I did Catholic Guidebook and directories and traveled doing all of these; all of that before I became Catholic.
Three years ago I started Sense of Community in hopes of doing a directory; and that was before becoming Catholic. NOW is the time; for time was waiting for me to be Catholic! If I don’t do it now, I won’t ever do it and that’s not an option.
If I were to make a personal mission statement, it would be just that - missions! The marketplace place is virtually untapped when it comes to missions.
There may have been other ideas for a Catholic chamber of commerce that have come and gone, or maybe still around, but the wheels aren’t turning. The reason for this could be because of lack of purpose other than success in business. The bottom line on the balance sheet looks great when it increases, but so does seeing my neighbor grow in the fullness of his faith in the Catholic Church.
Here are 10 reasons why we should have a Catholic chamber of commerce.
1. Circulation of money among Catholics
2. Exposure to consumers, namely Catholics
3. Provide networking opportunities and professional development, through newsletter, socials, planned events
4. Help promote growth for our Catholic business community, and our neighbors in our community via the mission of marketplace believers
5. Provide resources and service opportunities in our community
6. We learn from each other
7. We pray for each other and our neighbors
8. Concern about needs in community and bring them to prayer and partner with other organizations, churches, schools, etc.
9. Be a voice. Make a place for ourselves in local and state government and then be present
10. Why not? Everybody else is doing it. Just not for all of these reasons.
We are going to start this chamber of commerce with a pdf directory from information taken from this page.
Post your business on this page and share. If you want, just copy your business card. You can post as often as you want. This doesn’t cost anything. It’s a way for us to “shop”, a go to place when ready to buy, (directory type advertising) as well as we saw an ad at this page and return to it (creative advertising).
