🌼 THE MIGHTY NASTURTIUM

Not every flower in our Eyegarden is planted for its looks alone.

Last week, Virginia Leichty—who brings the Eyegarden to life each year with a dazzling array of produce and flowers—added nasturtiums to the growing permaculture system outside our Downtown Goshen headquarters.

A flower prized by gardeners for the work it does behind the scenes, nasturtiums help attract pollinators, provide living ground cover, and can even draw certain pests away from fruit trees and other valuable plants.

Bright, cheerful, and surprisingly hardworking, these colorful blooms are proof that some of the most valuable plants in the garden are also among the most beautiful.

The same principle applies to our creative work: the strongest systems are built through connection, collaboration, and thoughtful design. The Eyegarden serves as a living reminder that growth happens best when everything works together!

EYEGARDEN 2026, Part 5:
💐 A NEW SPLASH OF COLOR

As the Poppies continued their brilliant, citrusy emergence, the Eyegarden welcomed a new splash of color this past week as Virginia Leichty planted several Columbine flowers among our fledgling permaculture beds.

Known for their delicate, lantern-like blooms, Columbines have a way of looking both wild and elegant at the same time. They attract hummingbirds and pollinators while adding beauty and biodiversity to the garden.

For Virginia—who, for so many seasons, has brought her produce and flower garden to life outside of our Downtown Goshen headquarters—planting is about more than filling space.

"I like finding plants that seem as though they belong exactly where they are," she said. "When a garden begins to feel natural instead of arranged, that's when the magic starts."

Much like the work we do at Eyedart, great gardens aren't built overnight. They grow through patience, creativity, focused intention, and thoughtful care. And every new addition helps create a landscape that is not only beautiful, but alive with purpose.

✨ Creative Highlight: Demarée Noneman - Director, The Sound of Music

When she's not helping our clients tell their stories, Demarée is busy directing Elkhart Civic Theatre's production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's The Sound of Music at the Bristol Opera House! 🎭

The show opens TODAY and runs May 29–31 and June 5–7, and knowing Demarée, the show is going to be a memorable one. In her own words: "The music alone is worth the price of admission, but combined with this wonderful story and our dedicated cast and crew, it's going to be something truly special."

We are so proud of you, Demarée. This is exactly the kind of passion and creativity that makes our team so special. Go show her some love, and go grab your tickets! 🎶🏔️
