🥕🍎🥬 Our team recently designed a wholesale produce guide for Region Roots, a wholesale food hub in Northwest Indiana operated by NWI Food Council, to communicate packaging and produce standards with their wholesale producers.

We also created a produce guide template in Canva that Region Roots can easily share with other local food hubs, which they can individually personalize based on their branding.

These custom interactive forms replace paper cut sheets, using conditional logic to make it easy for farmers and customers to make their selections for beef and pork shares.

🥩 For instance, if the customer chooses a 1/2 beef rather than 1/4, they are presented with additional choices for how they want their brisket cut, along with choices for dividing ribeyes/NY strips into both steaks and roasts.

🥓 Likewise, the form hides questions that are irrelevant based on earlier choices, so for example it doesn’t show bacon options if the customer has already selected to keep the pork belly whole.

😁 This also reduces the amount of time Glacier Processing Cooperative spends on customer service related to processing meat!

We set up these forms for Glacier Processing Cooperative, a producer-owned meat processor in Montana, as part of the Shopify website we built for them.

Back in 2015, I had to get written permission from the marketing agency where I worked to be allowed to help a friend with marketing in my free time.

That friend was Phoebe. I had met her during my transition from lifelong vegetarian to omnivore, shopped at her family's farm store every week, and started visiting the farm regularly.

Over the next year, I struggled with deciding what would be next in my career, although I was certain it would not be marketing. But a funny thing happened... I helped Phoebe's family farm triple their sales. So I started thinking maybe I could continue to enjoy marketing, if I could work with farms and other food folks... and in 2016 Grapevine was born. 💚

April 4th will be our 10th anniversary in business. I am grateful to everyone who's made this milestone possible, including the amazingly talented team I get to work with every day and the clients who trust us to help them grow. It's an honor to partner with each of you. Thank you!

Wondering if Meta and Google ads are right for your farm? Advertising on Google and social media can serve as a powerful tool for your farm to connect with new customers.

We're co-hosting a free webinar for farmers with Grownby on Thursday, April 9 at 12 pm Eastern to answer:
• What groundwork do I need to lay for paid advertising to be successful?
• What are Meta and Google ads, and how should I use them?
• What’s the difference between ads and “boosted posts” on social media?
• What is a pixel, and how do I use it to track sales made from an ad?

🌱🌼 We recently worked with Circle Ridge Farms, a North Carolina herb and flower farm, to collaborate on packaging choices and design labels for their freeze-dried herbs and flowers. We also designed business cards to spread the word about their new business and to include alongside shipped orders.

Both designs use the farm's existing branding, and the black and white labels can easily be printed on their home thermal printer to save on print costs!

Come spend an afternoon with me and Brooklyn J.R. Organics CSA Farm, where I have been a CSA member since October!

I have been wanting to see their operation in action since I started shopping with them at my local farmers market. Their year-round offering in Southern California is truly astounding. When I heard that Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF) was hosting their regional meetup at J.R. Organics, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to connect with the land and farmers that feed me!

This family farm has been passed down three generations and has grown to over 100 acres in Escondido, California. They have been certified organic since 1986!

I was able to pick up my CSA box on the farm that week which included broccoli, cilantro, apples, beets, radishes, carrots, avocado, tomatoes, lettuce and citrus. All of these ingredients made the most delicious, nutrient-rich salad!

Thank you to Farmer Joe and the entire team at J.R. Organics for having us — keep up the great work!

Consider this your sign to join a CSA near you to support your local farm! Your farmers and your body will thank you

— Emily
