If you’ve ever been to a dinner event at grove restaurant, you know it’s always a good time. We love being behind the scenes, helping them bring their concept to life through design and spreading the word to get people in the door. Creative work like this makes our job that much more fun. 🍷

As many of you know now, the world lost Aaron Schaut last week. While the TIS orbit knew Aaron as our lead developer and solutions architect, his skills went far beyond. He was a vivid, layered person who is difficult to summarize, which honestly was his gift. He was a musician, author, devoted animal lover, and a friend to more people than most of us probably realized.

In his nearly 14 years with TIS, Aaron challenged his team to both think deeply and laugh fully in equal measure. There are people who do their jobs well—on time, on spec, few complaints. And then there are people who, when handed a problem, look relentlessly for ways not merely to solve it, but to make it better than imagined. Aaron was the second type. Every time. That’s who he was. His teammates knew it. His clients knew it. And Rob and KT knew it more than most.

Aaron touched many lives during his time on earth. He was with TIS long enough to know everyone who ever walked through our doors beginning at our first office on Wealthy and Diamond; long enough to become part of the foundation of what this place is. While he was his own man who went his own way, he left something real behind for us.

To Aaron’s wife Michele, mom Paula, sister Carolyn, brother Jesse and to everyone who knew and loved him: We are so deeply sorry for this incredible loss. It’s far too soon.

To Aaron: Thank you for everything. We’ll carry it forward, my friend.

Many of you know that Aaron’s wife Michele runs an animal rescue. As we grieve this loss together, if you’d like to support Michele, whether for funeral expenses or other needs in the days ahead, please consider making a donation using the link in our bio.

For the last few months, we’ve worked closely with the Cone Top Brewery Museum team to build an immersive experience for their newest breweriana exhibit—Picnic Beer and the Joys of Summer.

We supported their vision through event branding, merch design and sourcing, and a custom beer complete with sippable cans and a pretty awesome 5-foot replica. We also handled the behind-the-scenes work that makes an event actually run—RSVPs, attendee communications, deliveries, setup and everything in between.

It all came together in a successful 2-day show celebrating the nostalgia of backyard gatherings, cold beer and the simple pleasures of a small-town American summer.

Special Shoutouts:
- Mindy Reno, Tom Hardy, Meg Adams, Issy Hardy, Mindy Hardy, Wyatt Hardy and the Cone Top Brewery Museum team for leading and coordinating this event.
- Old Stove Brewing: event partner
- KalBlue Group: printing and signage
- Kuhnhenn Brewing Co: brewing and canning partner

When Old Stove Brewing approached us to design a can for their new Japanese-style Rice Lager, our first thought was how we could connect the Pacific Northwest—where Old Stove is located—to Japanese culture. One clear thread? Fishing.

We drew from the traditions of Japanese printmaking to illustrate a fish leaping from the water with Mount Rainier rising in a sun disc in the background—all while nodding to the beer itself. A crisp, clean and light brew you’d crack open during a day on the water.

This past January, our Creative Director Elyse took on London with a group of Calvin University Design students and fellow professor Chris Fox. The two-week winter intensive brought real-world design inspiration and cultural perspective in the best possible way. From the Wes Anderson Archives at the Design Museum to the Tate, the Victoria and Albert Museum, a workshop at the Museum Of Brands, a trip to Oxford and daily neighborhood exploration—every corner offered something new to absorb.

Daily prompts and late-night collaboration sessions brought it all together, culminating in a student show this past spring. An amazing experience that reminded us all that inspiration is everywhere—and that the best design education happens when you step outside the studio.

Check out images from the final student show, “We’ve Moved Around the Corner,” and more behind the scenes on Calvin Univ. Design Program Instagram.

TAAIS is an expert in allergies and immunology, yet it was invisible to Texans—the people TAAIS is equipped to help.

We came in to build brand awareness across major Texas markets and create a scalable, data-driven digital campaign to drive qualified leads to their website.

Through PPC, RDAs and Meta Ads, we built a complete funnel with copy and visuals that met patients where they were—emotionally and seasonally.

Swipe to the end. The results speak for themselves. And with 2026 campaigns already underway, we’re just getting started!

MEET THE TEAM
Roy Amos — Graphic Designer

Roy brings a thoughtful approach to design—creating visual solutions that feel both strategic and deeply human. He’s especially drawn to work that evokes emotion or nostalgia, using color, typography and tactile details to create designs that resonate in the real world.

With deep ties in the spirits, food and beverage industries, Roy’s experience spans packaging, screen printing, merch and illustration—giving him a well-rounded perspective on how brands come to life. He’s fueled by working within our local Grand Rapids community and helping clients find clarity through intentional design, always experimenting with new mediums along the way.

When he’s not designing, you’ll find him getting creative in other ways—like cooking, trying new restaurants or getting lost in a good sci-fi book. He also enjoys spending time with friends, family and his partner, Chelsea, taking small trips and getting outside in every season—whether golfing, camping, beach days, or snowboarding.

Mitten chips came to us with a clear ambition: to elevate their brand to match the quality of the product. Through deep competitive research and strategic positioning, we reimagined the brand as a top-quality chip rooted in flavor, texture and Michigan pride. We refined the color system and elevated packaging to highlight the product itself. The final product doesn’t just look the part; it feels like the handcrafted quality of the chip inside.

MEET THE TEAM
Sara Klele — Strategist & Project Lead

As Strategist & Project Lead, Sara Klele brings clarity to complex ideas by turning client goals into focused, actionable plans. With a background in visual communication design, her work spans strategy, experience design and research.

Before joining TIS, Sara spent nearly two decades running her own business, Neapolitan & Co., helping clients shape brands, refine messaging and create better experiences. She’s also deeply connected to the local creative community, with years on the board of AIGA West Michigan and as the host of the No Agenda Networking Series.

Outside of TIS, she’s usually on the move—traveling (several countries + 40 states and counting), road-tripping across national parks or staying busy closer to home with hiking, camping, bird-watching, board games, barre, hockey and live music. She also tends to an ever-growing collection of 30+ houseplants and will never pass up karaoke or an ’80s dance floor.
